New PC but don't know what build to go with

No. I was not saying that at all. I was saying that its opinion based because other PSU's will eventually out perform what seasonic makes. What do you mean by "Quality of parts?" Thats could be a LARGE statement as I am sure they use the same parts and the same ways to make them like other companies. Again. I said its opinion based. My personal opinion is that Cooler master makes the best PSU's as I have never had one fail on me and I have had the same PSU running in my computer for 3+ years.

No, there is no question. Seasonic is the best. When you say it is opinion based and then your throw out there that you think cooler master is the best, you unfortunately lose all credibility. They are a joke compared to seasonic. Read some jonnyguru reviews and you will find out real quick why.

As for the build, ram is a waste and motherboard is a waste. Just because you heard it was good means nothing. Do you plan to use the features? I really don't see you adding 3 more cards down the road. Simply stated, do your need the additional features that it provides over a cheaper board? Or else that could be applied toward other components such as a second video card. Otherwise, looks good. The ram I posted some might actually consider better than the platinum. It is built using 30nm tech making to extremely power efficient and a GREAT overclocker. It is also low profile and all black. Twice the amount of ram for the same price seems win, win to me.

And I am laughing at the 3770k is worse than a 3570k in gaming. Where does this misinformation come from?

Keep your posts in the future respectful and constructive, please. If you are not willing to put up the effort to be tactful and polite, don't post.

I do not want to moderate this thread, but I will if the tone continues in this direction.

@drainey. Again, if you are not looking to cut corners on your video cards, you will be very happy with SLi 680's. Performance-wise, two 680's in most situations will match a 690 within ~3 - 5%, so extremely close. Obviously your thermal and acoustic properties with the 690 will be superior (note that the 690 uses superior parts and materials [vapor magnesium molding, etc]), but not drastically so.

@drainey. The HAF is a good case, but you could get something better if you are willing to spend more on it. At some point purchasing a case becomes a combination of preferences, ambient airflow capability and exterior physical look probably being the 2 most important for a full-tower or extended full.

Ide rather get 2 660Ti's and SLI those. Its a cheaper alternative and will most likely out perform the GPU he wants. It will give him a little more spending room also as its a bit cheaper then the 670 SLI combo.

I have two 660 ti's in SLI. It's a disappointment. They can't do AA without bottle necking. The over clocks cause instability and driver crashes. Gtx 670's are better for their higher bus rate and the over clock on them is more stable due to a stronger PCB board. 660 ti and lower sucks. Just saying. 670 SLI is the best way to go.

What games do you have that you actually need anything more then a 560Ti? None. I have a 560Ti and play all of the current games on max settings and get 50+ FPS on stock clocks. There is no reason to blow an extra 50-100$ on a TWO 670's. A 660Ti can play every game just fine. SLI will work just fine for up and coming games. And again, graphic wise, I also think its opinion based because people dont care if they play on low settings or high settings. And who said he is going to do AA? Who said he was going to overclock? There is no need for it.

Many PSU brands, including a lot of Corsair PSU's, are actually manufactured by Seasonic.

I've got a Seasonic Platinum 1000W on a brand new 3930k build i'm bringing up and I have no complaints. It's dead silent even on normal (continuous fan) mode.

If you want a true modular aluminum case that will last forever check out the Case Labs SM-8. They are a small California based manufacturer that hand craft their cases to your specifications. http://caselabs.net/

I don't know about that. There are plenty of games where a better card than 660 ti will give noticeable differences. To name a few:

Skyrim (modded or not)
Arma II
Hitman Absolution
Farcry 3

Not to mention the large amount of games that will be coming out this year:

Company of Heroes 2
Watch Dogs
Crysis 3
The Last Of Us

If you don't believe me, go find any reputable review site where the cards have been benchmarked and compared.

Yup. I agree 100 percent with you. My 660 ti is 100 percent used on medium to high graphics on all the new games. I can hardly hit 45 fps on most games. It's disappointing. Over clocking causes driver crashes. So it's a pointless investment. The 670 has a stronger chip and PCB board. Better for performance overall. And even if he doesn't use AA, the bus will help for resolutions like 1920x1080 and above. My 660 ti can't even handle 1920x1080. It's sad. And nvidias new drivers suck. 306.97 is the last working driver I found that let's me play games without a BSOD or computer reset. Even the 313.96 sucks. 306.97 is also the last driver that works with SLI just putting that out their. I've been building PCs myself for many years since 2004. I know basically everything until it comes to software... Hardware I'm a genius. I can get you best bang for bucks for gaming or whatever your needs for a PC are. I spent 700 bucks for my setup. Z77 chipset mobo. 16gb g skill ram. I5 3570k at 4.5ghz. Cm 212 Evo push/pull. Gtx 660 ti SLI. (Hate them). Seasonic x 1350 watt psu. Cm haf 922 case.

There is no need to be tactful. What was stated is fact. A little research into power supplies is all that is needed to confirm what I said. Being correct does not mean someone is disrespectful ;)

Not tryin to jump guns but he is right. A bit of research leads you to knowing seasonic is the top in psu's. the way he posted it WAS a bit in the wrong matter, could've been worded different or left some things out. I'm just trying to make sure this guy that wants this PC gets his money worth and doesn't spend a lot of money on something then run into the wrong ends with a cruddy product. I like helping others and doing the right thing. :)

$700 for that build? Highly unlikely unless you got parts for dirt cheap, already owned the parts, or got them for free.

Cheapest one I could find. 2 of those running on SLI will cost 500+ USD.

So. You have a $200 dollar budget which the i5 is what? 180 by itself? I dont know man... Sounds really fishy...

And to say the 660Ti cant play any games on high I play BF3 on ultra settings on a 1920x1280 screen. No issues here and I get around 60 FPS. Skyrim is around the same on the max settings.

To SLI a better card then what I currently have will blow mine out of the water with no problem. My 560Ti runs like a champ and the 660Ti is a massive upgrade from my card.

Gentlemen,

My post stands regardless of whether or not the post in question was factually correct...If you cannot keep your posts respectful and polite, you are not welcome to post on eGO forums. For example, instead of putting in effort to attack someone's credibility, you could use that effort to instead, find some numbers and quotes to back up your claims. Some of you guys need to change your mindset; you are not here to attack people for being wrong, you are here to help people when they are wrong. Lose some of the aggression, and keep it polite. PM me if you have any questions, but lets not derail this thread any more than this.

It does sound fishy, but they were all on a sale at my local Fry's Electronics when I got them. And, the driver issues is what causes the 660 ti to suck in games right now.

But, for a PC, I'd go with THIS setup VS the ones your being led to.

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/DWOu

Simply because you said you want overclocking and are going to be using multiple monitors, the GPU's high ram memory will support the higher resolutions and the gtx 670 has great BUS bandwidth to support it. the 670 can be OC'd to a high gtx 680 capability depending on your airflow and cooling setup. I chose an air cooling CPU cooler because I dont trust liquid cooling. Pump goes out, your screwed. If it leaks all over, you wasted money for a water cooler to destroy your PC. The 212 evo cools just as good if you replace the fans with high CFM fans doing push/pull towards the back exhaust fan. The only temp difference between 212 evo in push/pull and the corsair h100, is about 2 to 3 degrees celsius with the arctic silver 5 paste. 30 bucks for 212 evo, vs 100 something dollars for the h100? the 212 evo is what i use and my CPU is hitting 4.5 GHz at 71 degrees celsius, with still a lot of temps ahead of it to hit before its in danger zone. the i7 2600k is a better OCing CPU too, less heat and allows higher clocks. Sandy bridge beats ivy bridge. Also, look up benchmarks, you will see an i5 3570k or 2550k paired up with a gtx 670 or 680, beats an i7 2600k or 3770k ingame FPS wise, even with overclocks on both. Like I said, the i5 is better for gaming, the hyperthread slows down in game performance, not a lot, but enough to notice. If your getting an i7 for gaming its pointless, you'd have to disable hyperthread in your BIOS unless you use your PC for actual demanding programs. the i7 and i5's only differences is the hyperthread feature basically, the i7 DOES have a higher cache and stuff, but that doesnt matter in terms of overclocking and ingame capabilities. Look up benchmarks, make your decisions. And benchmark wise, the GTX 670 and 680 dont come far apart in performance, Extreme tesselation and benchmarking, the only difference was 1 to 2 FPS in extreme benchmark tests and in game tests on high res's with max AA and graphics. Hence why I say gtx 670 is better price to performance ratio, especially in SLI. If you want EXTREME, get the GTX 690, but SLI gives better performance and picture. Trust me on that, lol.

I thought the liquid in the liquid cooler was a special kinda liquid that didnt hurt the mothrr board or cpu if it leaked

distilled water is cheap and doesnt conduct electricity if there was ever a leak. there are additives on the market that are added to a water system for pump lubrication etc.

take a look at www.frozencpu.com
