TF2 + Linux = Free Item

Hello NEW buds :D. But seriously, just have to save this for a year or two and might be pretty valuable

What's that? I heard farmfarmfarm.

*makes 1000000000000000 alts, gives each tux the penguin*

Yeah, new buds.

But then there's the quantity....

Whatever, I need to learn Linux anyway.

Penguin > Buds

1) Penguins are legit
2) People won't mistake you for a Mac user

It will not be the new buds. Maybe the new bills. So many people are installing/virtualizing linux. The reason buds are so expensive is because barely any gamer is stupid enough to have a mac, and you cant virtualize it as cheaply(unless you pirate, but some people dont like this/ dont know how). All in all im envisioning a 12 key max price (being nice).

I thought that the majority of morons on the Internet shun anything that's not a PC, which includes Linux.

Wow, I think every TF2 player on the intertubes is downloading Ubuntu right now... 753MB file, and it says it'll take about a day total to download.

NEVER had that size a download take that long with my connection...

I personally, as a normal trader, do not think this will be the new buds. This would be a massive change to the market as that everything is currently based on buds and keys. The TF2 community has been using the scrap-rec-ref-keys-bills-buds order to getting $$$ for some time now.

As an Unusual trader, Still no. Because it would take year and I mean YEARS to figure out a set price for this thing like the buds. Valve isn't stupid. They know people are going to try and make a mass amounts of the penguin to try and make money. Buds have been used for trading and I don't think the unusual/normal traders would want to make a transition into this. I'm sure if the penguins were to become the new buds (Which they won't) it would make a lot of unusual promo items cheaper. Also, Buds are already know as the "High tier promo" and will be wanting to sell it for those "High tier promos".

It's hard to make an item become "currency"

Okay, after FINALLY getting to nearly 100MB downloaded, I've had it trying to get Ubuntu from their site. Really recommend anyone else tired of waiting for years to get it from CNet's site. Same file, but it was done for me in like 4 minutes as opposed to 1440 minutes.

I don't care if this is the new buds or not, this is great! I can finally motivate myself to get Ubuntu on my computer. XD

I'll wait until later, sounds like every TF2 player is getting it right now. Haha.

All y'all complaining about server load should just download the official torrent from Ubuntu's site.. More downloaders is better in P2P.

Come to think about it, this will not be the new buds, because:

1) TF2 is now free, as opposed to when earbuds came out:
a) People will create millions of alts just to get this
b) There is a bigger hype now. Example:
Festive items: Nobody knew Festives would be added in 2011, therefore they didn't plan ahead to get keys like in 2012. The new Strange Festive weapons are way cheaper than 2011 ones.
Most TF2 players who knew about SF weapons were excited for the 2012 ones, like people who know about buds will be more excited about the Tux and will probably try to make $$$ off of the little guy
2) Ubuntu/Linux is free as opposed to having to buy a Mac just for the OS
