So today marks my 5 year anniversary with eGO. I will say that it has indeed been a crazy & memorable ride. I remember when eGO was split up between 3 different sites (TF2, DOD:S, & CS:S). I joined originally when eGO has like 2 or 3 TF2 servers. Now obviously the community has grown massively across 5-6 continents (I have heard people on Vent from different countries speaking various languages). This just goes to show that word of mouth really has been our primary method of getting people into our servers, not to mention the maturity level that the community carries when being in the servers.
However, I will admit that I have not been in the servers in like over 6 months. Despite this, I do have a few friends within the community who have been promoted to different departments & have celebrated their accomplishment.
If there is 1 thing I can say to those looking to get ahead with the organization, it will be simply to watch what you say and simply just have fun. Some upper level echelon may be watching your performance both on the servers as well as on the forums, while others may not pay attention. All I have to say about this is just stay patient. It took me like almost a year to earn my O. It is actually easier to earn your G than to get the O (simply because O has more responsibilities added to it). Anyways, I know that we will have more people who will hit their 5 year anniversaries this year as well, so be sure to celebrate their time as well.
