High ping in games.

Tryna explain this to my dad who is clueless on the subject, as well as i kinda am when explaining. I kept telling him to get someone to look at our traffic and to see if anything was changed with the switch and he was like they did, everythings fine. Which is bull.

My computer is really the only one with issues, being I think 30ft away. While his comp and my moms laptop are all right there by the router.

Ok another question for you then. if you run the exact same tracers from say your Dads PC are the showing the same "ugly" results as yours?

If so tell Dad there's a major issue with the ISP & he's getting ripped off 'cuz he's not getting what he paid for. If the numbers are much better then it has to be your WiFi & your simplest solution would be to hard wire your computer & see if that helps any.

I guess one thing we all might have over looked here is that your WiFi card/adapter on you PC is biting the dust. So if the tracer numbers from your dad pc or moms laptop are better, you could possible try swamping the WiFi card/adapter from dad PC you yours & trace again

I ran a trace route on my dads comp a minute ago to the TF2 server and CSS server. His numbers were WAYYY better. like 49-59ms..except for a few 125-126ms here and there but nothing over that. If im correct I think his is wired though. I can try my moms in a bit and take a screenshot.

My adapter is pretty old, like i said nearly 4 years old! I'm guessing it's just finally biting the dust.

This was a trace from my moms laptop to the CSS server. I tried to the TF2 server, it was iffy, a few hops timed out. But overall both were alot better than mine.

So a major question answered it's not the ISP which will make life easier on you. And the trace from your moms laptop which is wireless is way better then what you were posting from you PC.

So you issue lies either with your wireless set-up ('cuz even the #'s from you mom's isn't that great but major improvement over yours) or your adapter.

You upgraded your Internet service you said correct? But your wireless adapter is is 4 years old, can it even the upgraded speed ?

Still say the best & easiest solution is to get a Ethernet card & run hard wired to your PC.

If your going to stay wireless you need to check into your adapter, see if it's dying & can handle the new upgrade speed & invest in a repeater.

 
Dad got me a new adapter, netgear dual band something, to use untill I go wired. My ping in TF2 dropped down to a constant 60-65( diff srver) but whenever i start up CSS and go to the HS server its right back at 130-160, no changes. My ping only seems high in Ego servers. I went to our TF2 server and my ping was 110-145, I went to another and it was 55-65.
