EVE No Longer A Division

<div style="width: 500px; text-align: center" align="center">Some of you may be wondering what happened to the EVE tab at the top of the site and its associated divisional forums. With some heaviness of heart, your Council has come to the decision to remove the game from full division status.

Many factors were taken into consideration while making the decision, including low recruiting numbers, limited Ventrilo activity, and reduced forum activity over a long period of time. Despite those factors, we don't consider this a "failed" division. Rather, it seems that the game style and the secrecy needed to run a successfully corp just don't match the eGO division formula.

Thanks goes out to Sicko and 2sl0w for doing what they could to try and build the division after recent turmoil.

To quote 2Sl0w, "EVE is not DEAD you don't 'turn the lights off.'" It's a great game, and our corp still exists. Those who wish to continue participating can find forums under General Gaming Discussion.

Quite surprising after hearing about all the great things soon to come to Eve.

Great work tho guys! If I only joined earlier..

We are still operating in the general gaming area. All of the exciting things coming up will still be happening. It is never to late to start xNocturnal.

I remember playing EVE with the corp when it was much more popular years ago. It's unfortunate that it had to come to this, but some thing's just don't last forever. As with Insurgency, we had to move on.

Fantastic work has been done over the years though and great effort put into this. Perhaps it will start to grow again a bit at least.

Safe flying.

SO it was to difficult for most eGO users or they didn't want to put in the required time to have what they wanted.

It's not really that simple with EVE. EVE being an MMO, like WoW etc means that eGO isn't maintaining servers etc.

Within EVE, like any other MMO's there are groups (called corporations, but like a guild etc). Many corps exist for various purposes. Some focus on industry. Some piracy, etc.

As such the Edgegamers corp in game cannot be everything to everyone. So while there are still plenty of eGO members playing EVE, not all are in the same in game corp. Not being in the corp negates the need to really use the EVE private forums, since they are designed for the in game corp.

So bottom line, EVE isn't dead. Nor is eGO's presence in EVE. But it doesn't fit the same kind of model as most of the games that eGO represents and supports (ones where the community hosts their own servers etc).

Well, guess thats why WoW has been merged to other divisions, etc. it makes sense.

I guess it doesn't have enough of a following or consistency to join the OP:X Div?

The answer I got on this was:

"op/x is for new games to see if they will do well on their own. The reason that some games ended up in op/x was because of Edge-gamers taking Strat apart when I stepped down. I truly believe that Eve does not belong in op/x. We actually have more room to develop and grow now as we are."

Realistically I guess based on that answer the real question is why some of the games in OP:X aren't in General games?
