Totally thinking about getting a new one but don't wanna throw to much money on it.. Currently i'm runnin a radeon 6770 HD 2gb on a top notch motherboard.. but like the gfx card is OKAY just I wanna play BF3 on max settings.. and not med..... =\ plus playing planetside 2 i'm only getting like 35-40 fps max.. I just wanna play like 200-230 for a really good gfx card! Thoughts?;)

I know its lil over the budget this should do! Also you should post the rest of your computer specs!

sad part just saw me windows exp.... 5.3 =[ and it's cause of the gfx card.. my processor got 7.3...

gfx gets a 5.1... =[
 
ALSO! with nvidia. I feel like they heat up to fast.. meaning they will burn out and mess up my tower... so I prefer AMD
 
FALSE! ATI has more heat than NVIDIA. NVIDIA has less jerky in game performance. NVIDIA has more performance to the bucks ratio. NVIDIA is the top of the line brand. ATI is behind NVIDIA with their drivers. The new NVIDIA GTX Titan BLOWS away any ATI you throw at it. I've had issues with ATI burning up easier than NVIDIA's do. The ATI pulls too much power from the PSU, and it has higher voltages, causing more heat. NVIDIA uses less power and less voltages, but has higher performance. Less voltage = less heat.

REALLLY?!

in that case could you tell me a good card for that price range? that would at least get me with bf3 at high? or even max? btw if this helps I can run skyrim even on ultra with no problem. with the card I have now. So yeah.

Aftermarket coolers solves all and just about any heating issues you would get. No reason to somewhat "slander" ATI by claiming they over heat more as most companies use different types of coolers on their cards.

Back on topic:

As for the price range. You might be able to get something decent. Play BF3 on ultra, maxed out settings? That might take a good 50-100 USD more.

If you are going Nvidia you have more options. A 660 would suffice but you can get a 560Ti for around the same price.

Or if you are willing to up your budget and wait a month or so when you get the cash - I would say Buy a lower power card and SLI them. You will get longer lasting performance out of them IMO. Then again if one ends up bonking on you, you still have a spare card you can run off of. Get a 2nd card of the one you have. Thats my suggestion and do some crossfire on them.

Whats your price range? For 300 dollars, I got the 660 TI, but i got TWO in SLI, but one by itself can run Skyrim on max graphics, BF3 on max graphics, but if you want AA (improves edges and whatnot for better picture), the GTX 670 is better for 60 to 80 bucks more.
 
Well I've just been looking for the past like 2 or 3 hours. And found a evga GeForce 650 ti 2gb gddr5 pci 3.0 for about 180 at my local best buy. Would that card be decent ? Or even better then what I got now?

As ive said. Buy a second card of the one you currently have and run Crossfire on them.

Scratch that. EDIT:::

Get a 660Ti or a 560Ti. Those are the best you can get for your price range IMO. I have a 560Ti and I run BF3 on ultra settings with no issues.

Yeah but I'd have to wait to get the second card. I don't want to wait I want it now!! Haha... But srsly though. Would it be good?

The 560Ti can be found for a fairly cheap price. Not sure why you would have to wait as ive seen some of them go for 220 USD.
 
7950 or 660ti. They will perform about the same. It is all based on how the game is optimized for each card.
 
Get your self a a 660ti, walk away happy & know that it will do more then enough for what you want

fetter, please be kind enough to direct us to where you got the above information from, I'm hoping it's not discussion form & a "real" tech comparison site.
I will agree on the "driver" part but ATI has really strated to make up ground on that issue
 
I got the info from ACTUALLY testing both brands of the GPU's, and ALL the ATI's tended to heat up far faster than any of the NVIDIA's I have used. The ATI also had higher voltages I noticed. But the ATI does perform good, but I had funner and better experiences with NVIDIA.

Thats a fine choice since your budget was far too low for the 660Ti.

As for the topic on AMD vs. Nvidia.

Just because your experience with the cards doesn't make it the main suggesting. Have you done any after market cooling to either of the cards? Have you moved your computer or changed the temperature in the area its stored by any chance? Are the cards running on the same coolers?

All those should realistically be answered no. None of us have a place where we can store our computers in perfectly average conditions where we do not have any temperature fluctuation and a lot of us dont have the skill or abilitys to swap out a cooler on an AMD card and put it onto an Nvidia card.

Plus I think the standards of heat for both companies vary widely. AMD might like their cards to run a bit warmer, thinking that's an average, perfect temperature where as Nvidia might run it a bit lower. Anywho. Have fun with your new card!

As for the Nvida vs. ATI statements, while personal preferences are nice, facts, facts, facts, Should be mostly used when giving others advice on parts to buy.

i think I failed to say in my last post that fetterEsel, is correct that "generally" ATI grabs more power to run their cards but that by no means a greater fail rate. And it's kool he's run his own test and all, but still I have found no data to show ATI's engineering is so wrong that they haven't compensated for the extra heat they might produce due to their high power consumption.

I've built rigs for many a many a years. And I
ll admit up front I am Nvidia person my self, but for me it's mostly been about drivers. Otherwise I find when you compare compatible cards from each well.
