Overview

Blue Stealth and I are proud to announce the formation of an official eGO DoD competitive team.
We are looking to create a team of roughly 10-15 players to play in TCN league.
The team will meet at least twice a week:

Practices
Informal Scrims
League Matches

Tryouts

Current tentative dates for tryouts:

Wave 1 - March 3rd @ 9PM Eastern
Wave 2 - March 10th @ 6PM Eastern

The tryouts will be held on the eGO DoD:S Event Server, and those participating are expected to be in
ventrilo and ready 15 minutes prior to the event's start. Any participants more than 5 minutes late will
not be permitted to participate in tryouts. Tryouts will evaluate several things, including but not limited to:

Accuracy
Reaction Times
Movement Fluidity
Hand-Eye Coordination
Overall Ability & Experience
Technical Expertise (Demos)

Please note the requirements for being on the comp team:

------------------------------

eG or eGO rank
Functioning mic of decent quality
Zero VAC bans on Steam account
Must be a member of the DoDS division
Good communication skills (Fluent in English, etc)
Good server and forum activity (To be determined by Team Captains)
No ban history (Exceptions may be made based upon recent behavior)
Zero history of hacking in any online games which eGO supports or has supported

------------------------------

If you are able to dedicate the time and effort required to be a member of the team and you believe you
meet all the requirements above, you may sign up for tryouts here.

Nice.
Even though I am sure I won't make it past the tryouts, I'll be glad to see my skills tested :)

I would love to try out, but I'm not entirely sure if my connection issue is solved yet. So, until an event next week, or even today (if I can get to it and you have one), I won't be able to determine my fit for duty if accepted.

Though doing a tracert test, everything seems to be normal now through the connection nodes. But I don't trust it 100%. Plus, I haven't been active lately due to some things, but I plan on changing that. I may, sometime later on next week, post to tryout.

If all else goes well, or even if I don't get accepted, good luck!

I read through the league rules... it seems scary. It looks more intense than realism. What kind of time will be required for practices and what not?

a question for Blue or Chuck

"Players must use:
- default models
- default weapons skins
- default point-of-view ("POV")
- default sounds
Any Hud design is legal, but....
- Must have a mini map present
- Must have net_graph 1 present
- Must have the flags and ammo details present
- Must have kills and death icons present

No additional information is allowed on your HUD.
If the admin staff deems your hud illegal you will get 1 warning to change your hud. After that suspensions may fallow.

Any use of enhanced or modified models, textures, skins, sounds, HUD, POV, during a sanctioned match may result in a match overturn and/or suspension of offending player(s)"

will SV_pure handle that or do we need to restore everything to default?

Servers will be on sv_pure 2 for all matches and scrims. You should not have to change anything even if you use legal skins, but occasionally people get missing models and meshes. If this happens, you will find out during tryouts, but I would suggest playing with an unmodded game, other than a custom HUD.

I was looking at the TCN page, and it looks like their last regular season has been 2 months, and this current playoff is about 3 weeks. Is that their approximate normal timeframe?

Yes, they usually have 7 week seasons and then 3 weeks of playoffs. This may change for the next season though.

If we are going to do this, can I ask that we continue the turn up and play scrims? I still want to be able to scrim like we have been, even though I suck and we lose, it's still fun and I don't want to be left out of the fun because I'm not in the top 10-15 people.

I was just thinking, could it be possible to build up a "eGO 2"-competitive team, because only so few are being picked on this one and there surely will be interested people who has not even tried this form of play. Something sort of "not-so-serious-business"-team?

For now, we will only have 1 team. We will re-visit this after a successful season or two.

Question(s): Would we need to be there for both Wave 1 & 2 tryout sessions, or just one. Would two increase your chances?
