As the title gave away, I just got my first bass. I've been playing something really simple that my brother showed me to get used to things and I'm watching videos on youtube. So, If you guys have any tips on learning or if you have resources that could help, put something in a comment :D

Ya ive thought bout getting the game for ps3. I wonder, do we have anyone in the community who plays the game (doesnt matter which instrument they play)? Also Slash, which system do you own it for?

Guitar

My advice as a guitarist myself: Stay away from the video games. Focus on the guitar itself and whatever lessons you can find (I know several great online lesson systems for lead, never poked around for bass.).

Play. Play, play play. Play often. Try to set aside at least an hour a day to practice. Noodle around on it throughout the day. Never put that thing in its case, keep it on a stand near you. Put guitar magazines and lesson books near wherever you relax (The john is an excellent choice here! lol). Always have something that reminds you of your guitar around.

You will prob feel at some point your fingers are too big or clumsy and you just cant fret it clean or fast enough but you will. Just keep doing it.

I hate to sound like one of those cheesy motivational speakers, but it really is all about the motivation.

I have it for the PC. If you are thinking bout getting it, check out videos on youtube. I've been playing it bout a month now and I am enjoying it. Learned and played guitar more now, than when I was a teenager...

This works. Just something about it out in the open, it's calling your name, play me!!!

I'm the opposite, short fat fingers!(small hands) Some chords are difficult!

Thanks guys :D I'll for sure try to get that game. Not sure if I should get it for Xbox or PC. It doesn't even seem like a game though lol. I've been practicing quite a bit and I've kinda recreated simple tunes that I've heard in songs. I learned how to read TABS and I have a bit of OCD so I guess that's good for keeping me practicing xD. I'm really loving my bass!
