Anime-iacs Assemble!

I know a few of you out there are really into anime and may even read the manga that's almost always better. I, by no means consider myself an anime aficionado, I've taken my jaunts into a few of the mainstream titles and enjoyed a good deal of them (Ghost in the Shell/Stand Alone Complex/2nd Gig, FLCL, Samurai Shamploo, Trigun, Cowboy Bebop, Evangelion, Blue Gender, SoulEater, Needless, Last Exile, Elfen Lied, Big-O, High School of the Dead, Full Metal Alchemist/Brotherhood) I even watched DragonBall Z as it first aired in Japan growing up.

I was curious if anyone would have any suggestions for some "can't miss" series that I may be able to watch on Netflix or any other free streaming site?
 
One Piece, Darker than Black, Mirai Nikki are three good ones.

I find myself alone in a sense that what I do isn't "normal". I stream the anime via websites, while other people download torrents and watch in HD or whatever.


Oh well, I enjoy it as it is.
 
Moved to Off-Topic, I've seen my fair share of anime's I just need to catch up on shows I missed.
 
My personal favorite series is Shakugan no Shana. Some others I really enjoyed were the Fate series (Stay/Night and Zero), Ore no Imouto ga Konna ni Kawaii Wake ga Nai, Sword Art Online, Clannad, and Mawaru Penguindrum.

I haven't done a whole lot of manga personally, but I enjoy Usagi Drop and Hentai Ouji to Warawanai Neko (don't worry, it's not actually about hentai).
 
I would recommend Phantom ~Requiem for the Phantom~ and Darker than Black since both are them are awesome and similar in some ways.
 
I may be a lil outta place on this, but is Akira considered overrated? Also the only other Anime ive watched is Appleseed. Anyone know or hear bout that 1?
 
I've been watching Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann recently - I recommend it.

I also think K-On! is awesome, but it seems pretty hit and miss (as in, some people love it, some people hate it) because its very cutesy and not a lot happens in it, but I personally love it because it is funny and makes you care about the characters.

Deathnote is incredible. Sword Art online is also very very good.

I've been watching steins;gate, and it's pretty fun so far.

I still need to finish shakugan no shana.

Akria's fun if you've never seen it before. I personally found Appleseed kind of dull.

Anyway, my usual go to recommendation for anime is Texhnolyze. Sure its super depressing, but its also worth watching. I also enjoyed Welcome to the N.H.K. for whatever reason.
 
If you want to watch one of the best mystery animes ever, go watch Hyouka. Hyouka is a suspenseful mystery. A must watch.
