Listen up maggots! It has come to my attention that some members of the eGO community don't know how to rocket jump. I'm here to teach you ladies the basics.

1. Play on surf maps for a bit.
• This may seem odd, but you can easily learn how to air strafe on surf maps, since you basically need to hold A or D to stay on the surf area

Unfortunately, my great air strafe example is screwed up by a problem Valve has been trying to fix since 2011 . uhhh

2. The Basics
• Walk forward, look down, jump, crouch, shoot under yourself
• Air strafe while in the air ( Hold A or D )
• NEVER hold W while strafing
• As you fall, find a good time to shoot a rocket at the ground to break your fall

3. Pogo Jumping
• Pogo jumping is continously maintaining a rocket jump by shooing more rockets underneath your feet
• I started to understand pogo jumping on a low grav cp_orangetowers server
• As you're about to touch the ground, shoot a rocket where you're going to be in the next second amd hold crouch

4. To be continued

Point shooter down at toes then go down then ascend and at same time fire big bomm boom then there you aviation

If you're going for distance, I find it beneficial to keep moving forward

Also, don't look straight down unless you're only going for height. Look behind you just before you shoot at an angle between 90 and 45 degrees for the best results. Utilize walls for bigger jumps as well :)

And you don't always want to break your fall with a rocket either. A rocket to the feet with no gunboats will deal you around 50 damage, while fall damage (depending on the height you fall from) can do as little as ~15.

oh wow, i didn't know about the crouch being involved in the rocket jump... thx for the post!.... where's the thumbs up button? lol

For breakin your fall with a rocket, I'm mostly talking about using the rocket jumper

Yeah, but few people can actually surf. A better way would be to just to create a server, sv_cheats 1, and then sv_gravity 400-600. Go on Hightower and practice doing circles around the tower in 1 rocket jump.

Yeah, but few people can actually surf.

I learnt how to decently rocket jump in a couple nights thanks to N-Light and surfing about an hour thanks to Sephiroth, it really isn't that hard if you have someone who can explain properly..

Hah XD That's funny your a damn good Sold , I knew about everything expect the part about avoiding fall damage

I'm still trying to break the habit of moving forward while jumping.

It's hard.

As my sage of a trombone instructor would say, "There is a simple solution to your problem. Stop doing it."

For me all it took was binding w to explode after I pressed m1.
