Got my 1st taste of 6 vs. 6 last night over @ http://teamfortress.tv.
Got into their "Newbie Mixes" event
TBH didn't know really what to expect, but prop's to the folks that run & coach that event. They do some excellent & much appropriated work & their willingness to coach & answer question was rather impressive.

I got in 5 games, decided for my 1st time doing this I'd play medic (not sure that was the best choice but). My last game was a disaster & I felt really bad for my team. It was a map I'd never seen (snakewater) add to that I was the only real "newbie" in this match & we lost a scout to DC early and UGH!
But I did have 1 really great match, & did rather well on my 1st 3 so all in all it's a start.

Definitely see myself moving in that direction & to have found an avenue for form coaching & mentoring which other wise has been lacking well ....

Did this old soul some good to play something a little more competitive then a PUB again

Competitive stuff is a lot of fun. I tried 6s myself, but found I didn't like them. I don't like the lack of players around the map. Call me weird, but I like having people that I can consistently take down rather than if you lose half your team (3/6 vs 5/9 for HL), they can push in and win easy. There's also a lot of funny stuff and amazing plays that happen in highlander that people don't really pay attention to. Most of the focus goes to 6s. D:

Some things do get a lot of attention in HL though. This happened yesterday and was so amazing to watch. Watch it if you've got an hour and a half to kill. Match starts at 57 minutes.

I agree with VP. To me, highlander is more fun. I think the idea of having one of every class is more appealing. However, my opinion is not everyone else's =P

Try HL. Somewhat easier IMO since a little more room for mistakes. Plus 1 of every class is a very cool thing to see. Also slower paced than 6s, which is kind of a good and bad thing since there's room for turtling but at the same time if you're down 3 people that doesn't mean you're down 1/2 a team like in 6s.

I don't like comp, everyone usually gets mad at eachother and such.

but then there is also this:
