So, is this Salvaged Crate #50 really worth as much as people are saying?

People are saying it's worth 2 buds, which seems ridiculous. I know that it has Bacon Grease and a Strange Original in it, but it still seems out of hand, especially considering that Salvaged Crate #40 is 7 keys.
Thoughts?

well firstly the #40 gone down because it's most valuable item now has a differen't strange varient. Also it is only a few days and VERY few people have it, but when more people get it(in a month or two) then it will decrease to probably 16-20 keys

It IS an upgrade for pan after all, people have been demanding a strange pan forever. Of course it's going to be overpriced to heck.

I'd like one, too, but with two buds you can buy a quality Unusual.
Unusual > Strange Pan anyday.

Well, let me explain the logic behind tf2 market.

"ZOMG NEW STUPH. IT IS WORTH 200 BUDS H4H4H4."

4-5 months later....

"That item is worth like 0.66 ref lol"

If you are seriously in want of something, just wait for it. The only thing that typically doesn't go down is promo items. Everything else goes down with time.

Dude....it was released yesterday.

Of course it's ridiculously priced now.

When something is extremely new to TF2 it is worth a lot but after a couple of days when a lot of people start getting it, it is not very expensive anymore

This describes it perfectly.

tl;dr

It's not at all ridiculous for people to say it's worth two buds. The TF2 economy is based in large part around what people say, or more appropriately, what they value it at.

Nothing in TF2 is "priced" unless it's exclusively available by purchasing it from Valve. The value of items as you see it on places like backpack.tf is based on market demand.

New or exciting or rare items: valued higher.
Old, boring, common items: valued lower.

There is not a system of manipulating values from the top down other than removing them from the game (like the hats that just got removed), or or by changing drop/craft/uncrate rates. Or by owning a selling value aggregation site like what happened with tf2spreadsheet.

Don't waste your energy getting huffy over values of items.
Your time is much better wasted trying to get a fancy hat.

In the words of Idol:

tl;dr hats

Considering only 5 have been found and 4 have been opened, it makes sense. And for those wondering there is 1 splendid screen, 1 PDA, 1 watch, and 1 original so far.

Um, No.
