Titan . . . to buy or not to buy, that is the ?

Name says it all, unless you've been under a rock that is.

Just wondering here . . .

I have a GTX580, lovely little card, doesn't make a peep, plays almost everything I throw at it. Memory is only 1.5g though so there is no room for improvement. Looking at possible double monitors or one whopper with sick resolution.

Questions / Scenarios:

1)Buy another 580 (while they are still offered) and SLI them together saving hundreds of dollars but gimping me possibly.

2)But a Titan once the price cracks (a little) or I find the spare dough.

Not that even this might matter since, well, I am just running an OC'd Phenom X6, so that might bottleneck the bejeezus out of me anyway.

Thoughts?

I'm in the same boat sort of ,Do I buy 2 690's or 3 Titans for my new build. The titans are a 110 processor not a 104 , but at 1K each it's a tough decision. A single titan performs at about 75 to 85% of a 690, less heat,noise and less power.If money isn't the issue for you I would buy the Titan and your monster monitor then add another down the road. I have two 580's in sli now and I do like them.
Personally I would buy the Titan and 3 24" monitors for surround vision, of course I am assuming that your computer ram,proc etc isn't going to be a bottleneck. 2 580's in SLI is a sweet setup too ,and would save you a bunch of money . Good luck choosing

Seriously guys? Why spend that much $$ on the latest cards when your current cards will handle everything that you throw @ it? Also what will you do with your current cards when you end up upgrading them?

Im at a GTS450 & frankly am still quite happy with it (its just my cpu & memory that need an upgrade). Just saying guys...

I would buy a 2nd 580 (it would equal a 590) The titan is too much money with not enough power for its price tag

Pretty simple if you ask me, If your one of those few people that has more then enough extra money to spend then lay out the cash & go Titan.

If however you like most of us, then I suggest SLI with your 5800. But hey it's never my job to tell other what to do with their own $$$ so ...

In my case building computers is a hobby,I build a new one every 2 to 3 years . My new build is very expensive so why not have the latest and greatist ,I agree they are a lot of money but they are also a g110 proc and 6gigs of ram (should carry me for a few years) I personally was hoping that they would be around the $800 mark. Like so many ppl its what you prefer to spend your money on

I'd say wait to see the GTX 700 series or 8000 series, then decide because by then the prices should be down or the 790 will be better than the Titan.
