So I live in Texas & as the heat continues to build up, im unfortunately a hot blooded guy & I have a ceiling fan, a lasko tower fan & this stanley heavy duty blower (mainly for construction work or w/e), and yet I still have issues with going to sleep quickly because of the heat. Unfortunately I live with my mom (until the summer when my sis & I will move into the city) & my mom sets the temp (since its her house).

Now my question is, what kinda fan can I use to really cool down my room at night so that I can go to sleep really quickly? I want something to be able to cool down the room possibly 10 degrees cooler than room temp or possibly outside temp.

Well do you have windows? If so get a cheap ac if your on a budget then get a box fan stick in in the window and turn it on high. And if that doesn't work this is gonna sound weird but it works. Put a fan on you meaning directed towards you on high and put an ice pack in your pillow case and BAM

Depending upon your location in Texas (Houston/coastal) a good dehumidifier will help you feel more comfortable.

Another option would be a window or portable air conditioning unit. Costco has a Sharp portable A/C for about $399 that works great for a small room. It also functions as a dehumidifier. I use one to spot cool my home office when it hits 105+ outside because the central air conditioners (2) just can't keep up at those temperatures. I can't work (much less sleep) when it's 80+ indoors.

I'm in Texas also.. south of Houston, on the coast.

What temp does your mom set it at?

(Btw, she probably sets it at that temp because of cost. The air conditioner is by far the most expensive thing in the house to "run". If that is the case, she probably won't like a window unit running. Adds a lot of the electric bill.)

Ya I agree, I totally wont go for the a/c unit on the window. Also theres a screen there (prob to keep the cats in), but ya when it comes to the ice pack, my mom always keeps this beanbag (or something) in the freezer, so I may try that. I may try putting that around my neck, but dont mind testing different areas out. The sooner I fall asleep, the more sleep I get (gotta wake up at 730a for work).

Thanks for the ideas guys! If something else comes up, hit me up!
