Rocket Jumping!

Can someone help me with rocket jumping? I've always been fascinated of watching roaming soldiers on Youtube. I try to rocket jump but I keep failing doing the long rocket jump? I can do a rocket jump to get height but I cant go that high and having hard time getting distance on my rocket jumps. Any advice?

The best way is to crouch, turn to the right, hold W & A, then pull the trigger while jumping. You'll get some good distance, especially if you let go of w/a.

And practice. I sat down and practiced rocket jumping for hours at a time before I got any good at it.

So never hold w when rocket jumping, it reduces you air strafing ability. Break this habit early. When I rocket jump I look in a direction at the ground or wall, hold the opposite strafe key, crouch + jump, then shoot rocket at ground. Just practice over and over again until you get it. As for practice I can upload(tomorrow) a script that you can exec on a listen server(when you create an server in tf2) that will refil your ammo and health and get rid of the clock so you can practice this stuff.

It does take a lot of practice, but there are special servers that help you learn.

As Shiznoe said, it would be constructive to join rocket jumping servers. It'll take a bit of practice, but all the while worth it ^^

It takes a good long while before you can get good at rocket jumping.

I just played on jump maps for a little while. jump_beef is probably the best jump map if you want to get into jumping.

I would say go onto rocket jumping servers. Have fun!

Even if you can't complete a jump map, just being on there and getting some done will help you out greatly.

A tip is to not use W/A keys while in air. It will mess up your strafing and the distance you jump
