Blue Screen

Hey guys I keep getting the blue screen of death, and I have no idea why???? After the computer restarts, and I get to the screen that gives me all the start up options, it just stalls and stays there until I turn off the computer, and wait about 15 min to 30 min to turn it back on. I tried to restore the computer to a different point but it did not change anything (I tried all the options that system restore gave me). Someone help me!!!!!!

p.s. I'm almost considering reformatting my HDD.

have you opened the case and cleaned it of all dust, made sure all fans are spinning.. the wait time sounds like an overheat issue.

If you can't even get into windows It would seem as if it is a Hard Drive Failure.

Go into the BIOS and see if it can detect your hard drive.

How much memory do you have installed? Does it match what is reported to be installed?

Are all connectors fastened securely?

Have you tried reformatting?

I have reformatted my hardrive multipel times due to major viruses (I share this current pc with my family.) Then I can get on the pc for a while and do whatever eGO raleted fun stuff I have to do. Then BSOD all over agian. The 500gb HDD is about 4 or 5 years old, and I believe it has been making wierd soft crunching sounds kinda like a scratching noise (not sure if the noises originate from the HDD.) Sorry for the bad typing i'm at my aunt and uncles and tey have a laptop. I just recently dusted it out with compressed air, nice and shiny.

does sound like your HDD is failing... I would replace it. Also.. if you have important data on the drive, place it in a ziplock bag and put in the freezer overnight. This should congeal the grease of the spindle bearing and allow you some time to dl the drives data. This has worked for a few friends when their xbox 360's HDD's failed.
