Any mods that you guys have will most likely need to be moved and/or reinstalled to the new "custom" folder within the "dod" folder. Complete file path:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Day of Defeat Source\dod\custom\

You will notice that Day of Defeat Source is no longer located under steamapps/USERNAME/etc. Since the file location has moved, many of your custom material will be broken. To fix this, simply move your custom material to the custom folder.

For example, if you want to reinstall the iNsane Custom HUD v10, your install file path should be:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Day of Defeat Source\dod\custom\Insane HUD 10\

The folder "Insane HUD 10" can be named anything you want. If a folder for your modded material within the "Custom" folder does not exist, you will need to make one. All these changes might have adjusted your cfg folder as well, so some may experience MAUL PIN problems. If so, simply redo your MAUL PIN to the correct location.

Feel free to ask questions if you got em.

Some of my Steam friends told me they lost their cfg configs, their HUDS, along with other various custom stuff. Another person told me he lost all of his .dem files. Just to be on the safe side before you install it make sure to back it up, I backed up my .dem files so that if they got deleted I still have it all. Steam did not delete anything it seems just relocated them to a new location and as a result some of the customization may not work because of the new file location.

Maybe some of you will find this useful?

Thanks a lot Anni! Was wondering why it didn't show up when I clicked by steam username folder.

Also, I suggest dragging the new DOD:S folder back into your username folder for convenience.

Cheers!

I would highly advise against doing that, it will corrupt your DoDS installation.

Thanks a lot Anni!

I think skyline had a mini-stroke

I know for a fact that some people lost their config and autoexec files, including myself with the latter. Luckily all our demos are archived in multiple locations, so as long as they don't break the engine itself (they have in the past), we are good to go.

My bad Blue! It does seem like I had a mini-stroke to confuse you two lol.

And I have placed the DOD:S folder back in the common folder where it was located originally.

Thank you!

thanks Blue.. on top of things as usual :)

I got lucky, all my stuff migrated with the game.

edit: if you have a registry cleaner, run it.. I found a lot of firewall issues associated to the migration of the game.

There are some .vmt files (only 2 actually) that aren't working no matter what for me. If I go to fpsbanana and download a similar skin though, it works fine.

Any suggestion? I'm doing it the same as the other files, including other .vmt files, but these aren't working at all..

So Blue, why did it seem to mess up my hit reg on DOD:S?
I only had the following in my autoexec folder, besides my admin pin!
cl_updaterate 67
cl_cmdrate 67
rate 30000
cl_interp_ratio 1
cl_interp 0.033
Any thoughts on why the and how to fix the hit reg?
Thanks,
Dbad.

A) Either the mod author packed the files incorrectly and the pathing is incorrect, or you installed them incorrectly.

B) Some mod and skin types are automatically blacklisted, and will not work as they are considered cheating.

If you want, hop on ventrilo and we can use teamviewer to look at your skins.

Your values look correct, you could try raising your rate to 50k if you have a fast connection. The update yesterday will not have changed hitreg server-side. That being said, some of our instances were not running optimally after the servers were restarted to apply the update, but that had nothing to do with the update itself.

Also try the other servers (besides strand) and see if the problem remains. If it does, the problem is on your end, and I would try reinstalling dods completely.

I found them on gamebanana and was able to install them correctly, I guess that was my only problem..... got that and my hud back to how they were before. Thanks though.. this new format was kind of confusing at first
