Behold the ultimate guide for improving the look of your houses and making them have that swag look.

Since the HQ is near complete as are most of the houses in the surrounding area I feel this guild will come in handy in not only giving the finished build that extra finish but help give us ideas for additional details when we start making our replicas of the bases from TF2.

or just fill them with dogs

I will learn how to build before I join our server. Yeeeeeeeeeeesssssssss

Scale matters. Also, remember that buildings aren't just big boxes. Minecrafters build a lot of boxes on public servers. I'm not sure why. Some stuff I've been building on my home creative server over the past year:

The building in the foreground, the gardens, bridge, the two pointed towers towers in center-right, the temple, and the weird monument to the right are mine. A friend built the cluster to the left and the square iron tower at center. He has some crazy stuff out of the picture too.

The big thing is that buildings need texture. Not just in two dimensions, but even walls need bits sticking out. Ledges, window sills, detail work. You can do A LOT with half steps and stairs in terms of detail work--it's just a matter of learning how those blocks look in various combinations. Of course, it's a pain to do in survival because of the digging required and every mistake needs to be torn down and rebuilt (sometimes requiring more resources) but even on survival scale it matters in terms of appearance.
