late macbook air 2011 screen help

so today i decided 2 clean my screen i turned my laptop off flipped the laptop so i could wipe my screen... did my cleaning and turned the laptop back on again and this happened :scared: :crying:

now my question is do you guys think that it is a loose connection or a broken screen

Unfortunately with the way these are designed, you will need to get it fixed Apple. Take it to your nearest Apple store and they will fix things up.

1) What cleaning solution did you use?
2) How much force did you apply on the screen to wipe?
3) This is NOT a software issue.
3.a) This looks like a bad LCD issue from the cleaning.
3.b) Now you're afraid to clean your screens again, aren't you?
4) You'll need to take it to the Apple store to repair.

Unfortunately it's expensive. Prices have reported between $200-400 for screen replacement/repair for Macbook airs.

If it's not under warranty and you're tech savvy you can do it yourself most likely. Go to this website and look for the laptop model you have and see if there is a screen replacement guide.

My guess would be that enough pressure was placed on the lid of the laptop when you were flipping it over or you pressed too hard on the screen when cleaning it. What you see is physical damage to the LCD/LED screen. If you had a loose connection you wouldn't see anything on the screen at all. Always be delicate when handling laptops or monitors. Hold them by the sides and never pinch them like you would a sandwich or a notepad. Sorry to see it happen to you man. Let me know if the website I linked was of any help.

Small update: So i took it 2 the dealer where i bought the macbook at, They sent it 2 "testing" 2 check it out. Luckily the warranty covered it since we have a 2 year warranty rule on all electronics in my country .... So now im just waiting 4 the return of it... Only thing im afraid of is that all my data might be deleted espescially my microsoft office pack for mac and my autocad drawing program. Since i dont know if this is something i can reinstall or if its limitied to 1 instalattion only. So if anybody knows anything about this i would love 2 hear from all you techno geeks

Autocad works on mac? That's interesting. I have solidworks on my windows side on mac

if they are fixing the screen issue there is no reason for them to mess with programs on your hard drive

Yeah but i know that some places they delete and reinstall the os as a standard procedure

They could replace it with a refurbished MacBook. It also depends on your country's laws concerning warranty fulfillment.

If all they are doing is the screen replacement there is absolutely zero need for them to format and reinstall your OS. If your hard drive is tampered with, make sure you didn't sign any paperwork that allowed them to do so and then proceed to pressure them for compensation. The idea that some people do this without asking permission or discussing this with the customer sets me on fire. I run my own business out of my home doing this type of work and communication is important to not only do the right thing but to have repeat business. Let us know how it goes.
