Some BF4 Questions

I know it's a bit early to ask, but I was curious. Will the M40A5/ SV98 return? Also, when you play the multiplayer beta, will you get any "special items" or keep your rank that you earned in the beta? Sorry, I joined mid-BF3, so I hace no past experience.

I hope they return the M40A5 or something similar to its caliber. Thats by far my favorite recon class weapon. During the beta you don't get to keep anything you unlock. Thats how it worked for bf3.

Yeah. I love that gun. I hope they work the snipers out like this:
Close-Range Snipers (M40A5) OSK to everywhere except limbs.
Mid-Range Snipers (SV98) OSK to upper chest and head.
Long-Range Snipers (M98B) Headshots only.

How is an M40 a close range sniper and the SV-98 a medium range sniper when they both are chambered in 7.62x51 (the SV-98 can also be found in the similar 7.62x54R).

What the heck is a short range sniper rifle any ways? An M40 has no problem hitting targets at 800-1000m, and in Battlefield 3, 100m is considered long range.

I mean with playstyle in-game. Not IRL. I love guns and shooting IRL, however

An M40 in 7.62x51 is really a 600-700m max weapon reliably in real life. In perfect conditions with a lot of training you may make 6 in 10 1000m shots into a 10" target. 7mm Mag or 300 win mag are more 1000m weapons. The M98B in 338 lapua magnum is 1800m+ depending on load. Past those ranges the projectiles become subsonic and accuracy is reduced considerably.

Yeah. What do you think of my idea? Stupid or good?

Imo the bolt actions should stay how they are. Maybe increase the small differences they already have a little tiny bit (give the SV98 a tiny bit better hip fire spread, the M40 a higher ROF, and the M98B less drop off and maybe more damage)

Other than a slightly lower rate of fire than the M40, the SV98 looks more like the close range rifle with it's closer range damage model, and the better hip fire accuracy.
