Do headshots with weapons other than the sniper rifle result in more damage? Like let's say with the Spy's pistol for example. Is shooting someone in the head more powerful than shooting them in the stomach, or leg?

I'm pretty sure all headshots aren't instant deaths since there's so much chaos, but I got the idea today while being a spy. Lately snipers and such have been getting smarter, backing up against walls so we can't backstab them. I wanted to jump on top of one, and shoot through the top of his head with my pistol. But didn't know if that'd do the trick...
 
It doesn't seem that head shots do more damage unless you are a sniper. I haven't tested it or anything, but it seems this way.
 
Good question... I'll see if I can get a bunch of people on hamachi to test out the damage. :)
 
I've noticed people drop faster why my engineer's pistol when I aim for the head.
 
I'm pretty sure they die faster with headshot. They seem to die by my handgun when I shoot them in the head too.
 
Headshot always does more dmg....unless you hit the ear...for some reason.

Or have my mouse, and aim head and hit leftleg though your scope never moved...o_O

Ive found that using a medic's needle gun and occasionally getting lucky and landing a head shot with one or more needles makes alot of "Critical Hit!"s to pop up. Also ive seen it happen using a variety of shot guns. This happens mostly on heavy's although ive seen it happen rather frequently on soldiers too. Maybe their head hit boxes are bigger or its just because they are slower but im pretty sure there is a head shot bonus for all classes. Its not as impressive as a fully charged sniper head shot.
 
I'm pretty sure you wouldn't get the same damage tick for shooting someone in the head as opposed to shooting them in the knee, that would just be no fun. You could just aim nowhere and spray, it would be too random. I'm almost sure the result will come out with the headshot being more damage.
 
Yes they do. It changed the trail of the projectile to the color of your team and says critical hit.


Try it with a pyro, it detects the flames so that its a stream of so many of them that it can lag you!

I wonder if this means I should also stick more sticky bombs higher up near their heads...
 
Explosions have no actual projecitle, hence no direct hit, which is required for a headshot. The explosion does the same damage no matter what :P
 
i think you get a better chance at a critical hit when you aim for the head?

For bullets yes

Explosion no
 
For en explosion i have seen critical hit when hitting peoples backs. Demo guy in particular.

After playing with demo man for a longer time ( now I have like 10 minutes total lol) I have found out that the demo man's grenade can hit for a critical.



So thats a critical hit for all weapons!
