Need Help With Ps3 setup

I wanted to set my ps3 to hdmi because i broke my tv,
now i'm trying to get it to hdmi on my computerscreen ,
there was no hmdi plugin on me screen , but there was a dvi ,
i got something to make from a hdmi cable to dvi , so that wasn't a problem.
now , i did everything they say on the internet, put out your ps3, put it on dvi channel , hold on your ps3 button , till you hear the bleep , and than the second bleep that put's out your ps3. now you need to restart it , like i did ...
than you should get a screen that you want to settup your ps3 on hdmi, but my screen give's some kind of a warning, saying , non presentmode...


do anyone of you know what i can do , i can't find an proper answere anywhere

Did you mean non-preset mode? This message is shown when a LCD monitor is switched into non-native resolution.
 
ohh, yes that's it ! but is there anything to fix about that or ? what does it really mean , i cant find anything on the internet almost, it's the only option left, i also got somekind of a purple line at my left side of the screen when he got something of a connection
 
What I meant was, a resolution that the monitor cannot display.
 
mmm, thats a shame :( i also try'd once on a big tv at my ex her house, there i got the same problemem , but thnx for all the helps, i'll just need to buy a new one haha
 
Just lower your PS3 video resolution to the native resolution of the monitor, it is too high right now. That is why you are getting the message on the screen.

but how can i set that lower, i can plugin the ps3 on the tv downstairs for a minute, ?
 
I'm wondering why the non-preset mode message would come up. The last time I reset my PS3 display settings using this method, it reverted back to 480i. After that, it would give you the chance to set your video settings again, either manually or automatically to your monitor or TV's native resolution. Since you're using a monitor that has DVI, I really think it should support at least 480i without any problems.

I'm guessing you didn't properly reset the video settings, and the PS3 still thinks you're using your old TV, which is using a resolution that your monitor couldn't support.

Here's what I did:
1. Make sure your PS3 is in standby mode. (Red light near power button.)
2. Hold the power button for 5 seconds, and until you hear two beeps. Then release it.
3. Your PS3 should turn on by itself, and a few seconds later, you would see a settings menu regarding the display settings.

i was wondering also because of that !!

i've been doing that with the 2 bleeps, but than he says that he's in that mode. i plugged it on on the av again on the tv downstairs, and looked at the revolution options, it's all fine, and also the monitor is an good one , so he must do it ,
 
Dvi to hdmi or hdmi to dvi plugins can cause issues, too. I always had problems trying to make an hdmi work in dvi adapters or vice versa.

i know that it's true , but my friend manage to get it done , so i hope i will also ,
but if it all doens't work i'll need to buy a new tv , or have to play downstairs haha

Okay I thought this through. Plug your ps3 into a outlet that its going to stay at(unplugging will reset your resolution and recreate the problem) Go on to your XMB menu and go to display options and tap HDMI settings and experiment with the few premade setups they have, if you cannot do this with only a HDMI then it's best to plug in the cords that came with the ps3 aswell. By doing this you can just switch from auxiliary and HDMI to tweak it if need be. Hope this helps you out.

DVI and HDMI send the same exact video signal. So if the signal isn't being received by the monitor, the only possibilities are that the resolution is set to something the monitor doesn't support, or the converter cable/piece doesn't work right.

A solution to this would be to turn the resolution down on a device that functions ie; your downstairs TV, come back up and try again.
 
On further note, what monitor are you using exactly?
