Welcome all to the TF2 Division's MGE Tournament! This is a tournament of skill and wit. Do you have the courage to step up to the plate and give it your all?
Type of tournament and playable classes
This tournament is a Double Elimination tournament, so you'll get two shots. You may enter in as pyro, scout, soldier, demoman, or sniper. You may play any of the 5 classes listed that you wish to at any time during the tournament. You will earn your title as the top of classes; the macho man; the b4nny, ruwin, TLR, Max!, or Huey Lewis of the TF2 Division! You will be paired up randomly with another player who may or may not be playing your class, so train all you can.
MGE Basics
The goal of MGE is to simulate a one on one deathmatch scenario. Two players are spawned in an arena, which is usually an important area of a competitive map. The first player to reach 20 points wins. Points are earned whenever a kill is confirmed, whether by fragging or suicide. When a score of 20 is reached, the counter will reset back to 0-0 with the players to clash again. Different arenas have different class restrictions, but the only classes allowed for general play are the Soldier, Pyro, Demoman, Scout, and Sniper. MGE features MikeJS’s ELO rating system. Players start with 1,600 points with a change of rating depending on whether they win or lose.
Starting time
The tournament will kick off at 3 PM CST and will last most likely three hours, or as many people as we can get done. The latest we will end will be by 7 CST, so please be sure you have time set aside for Sunday if you move on.
Weapon Restrictions
Scout - Force-A-Nature, Soda Popper, Baby Face's Blaster, Pretty Boy's Pocket Pistol, Flying Guillotine, Sandman, Wrap Assassin
Soldier - Beggar's Bazooka, Cow Mangler 5000, Buff Banner, Batallion's Backup, Concheror
Demoman - Nothing
Pyro - Phlogistinator, Manmelter
Sniper - Machina, Hitman's Heatmaker, Darwin's Danger Shield, Cleaner's Carbine
No sets allowed that give you a stat bonus. Croc-o-style, Special Delivery, etc.
Be in Ventrilo
We will be meeting for the tournament in Ventrilo. Below is the Ventrilo information and help on setting up Ventrilo, as well as a link for downloading the client. Please try to show up 15 minutes before the tournament starts.

Your match and you
You will be assigned a random opponent. We will have matches going on in the league and events server at the same time to keep everything moving along. We could be running a bit ahead or behind, so please make sure you don't have anything planned the 27th-28th if you do not want to have to forfeit your match. The sooner everyone is here, the sooner we can get started and the sooner we can end.
The maps
MGE has important areas of competitive maps. If we get enough participants, we will most likely play every map. We are at least going to be playing Granary Last, Badlands Middle, Viaduct Middle, Waste Middle, and Snakewater Middle.
Be on time
You will be given a 5 minute time window before your match to arrive in ventrilo and be in the event or league server. If you are not in ventrilo and the server within this 5 minute time period, you will be disqualified and your opponent will advance to the next round. Please be sure to show up on time.
Spectating
Yes, you are allowed to join the server and spectate! But players with first matches will have priority getting into the server, so you may lose your slot for that person. Spectating admins will not be allowed to use any form of admining on the events server. If we receive word you are psaying, pmenuing, or pchatting a person playing at that time, you will be kicked from the server and dealt with by leadership. No form of interference is allowed during matches. Admins will not be allowed to use admin chat or all chat. Spectators may talk in the spectator chat while they are watching a match, or chat in Ventrilo.
Sportsmanlike Conduct
Any trash talking, degrading marks, taunting (in-game taunting is allowed, if you want to let them kill you that is), etc. will not be allowed during the matches. We are holding you responsible for what you say. Although we get this is a fun and competitive event, please keep the words to yourself.
Training for MGE
Starting Saturday, April 20, the events server will be open when it is not being used for an event for your own practice. Please be aware that everyone will be kicked at the time of an event, or if an admin trainer is using the server for a private class.

, i can finally kill oober now...wait scratch that, I don't want to fight oober at all.
I'll probably fail, but at least I get a chance to see where I stand as a scout.
