Well the ATI HD2900 PRO wont be around much longer and is only available in some place... most are on backorder now but newegg should still have some in stock.

Basically the single card performance right now (top to bottom) goes like this:

nVidia 8800ULTRA
nVidia 8800GTX
ATI HD2900 XT
ATI HD2900 PRO ****
nVidia 8800GTS
ect....

Its impossible to know whats what in November... I do know nVidia is working on the 8900's and ATI's updated cards, HD2950s, should be hitting shelves the sometime late october or november.

Thanks for the link, Duality. As I said before, I'm trying to save every buck I can since I'll have, at most, $600 to work with. I'm sure that link'll come in handy.

Whoops, edited the wrong article at the wrong time.

I meant to say: You can do it Gruber! There are plenty of people here to assist you if you build your own system, and it'll save you a ton of money. Don't buy another POS from the kid at Best Buy...

Also, although I have done no research on this topic, I'll bet the 2950's and 8900's are going to be souped up, unstable versions of their predecessors, and probably way over priced. Just in time for the holidays

I built mine.... I can not tell you how much it costs because my box is constantly evolving. Swap a powersupply here, a hard drive there, aside fromt he case it's changed out the guts completely over time two or three times since I built it.

BTW.. I have a degree in computer electronics and I'm a MCSE in my day job. When I worked in a computer shop I probably built over 1000 custom computers. I did 30 in one day once.
