Not able to install SP2 Vista

Hey guys, i'm on my parents computer, and i'm trying to install service pack 2. Under windows update the only option for service packs in sp1. So I figured in order to have sp2 i'm going to need sp1. I install sp1, it appears to finish, no windows restart, and when I restart manually the computer does not install the update like it usually does. When I restart the computer sp1 wants me to install it again. I'm stuck, so please help.

The only thing I can think of is to install SP1 in safe mode. Make sure that networking is enabled (just to be on the safe side).

Other than that, I cant really think of anything else. Someone else feel free to step in as well. Frankly, I was never very happy with Vista anyways (no offense). If you cant seem to get it to work, then see if you can backup the files & get win 7 home premium.

For SP2, you need to install SP1.

Without installing SP1, SP2 option will not exist.

Turn off UAC.
Turn off any anti-virus programs you have.
Try again.

Still nothing? Post in this thread again. Windows Vista sucks by the way.

You may be better off just upgrading to Windows 7. The performance is much better and you probably wouldn't hit these bugs
