And it's only 12$ !

Here is the Steam page: Insurgency on Steam

I already bought the game, and it's beautiful, so help the game grow and let's eventually make it our division again!

Here's the description:

INSURGENCY is a first-person team-based shooter for up to 32 players designed for Windows? PC and Mac OS X (and in the future, Linux), using Valve’s Source Engine. INSURGENCY is based on the popular total conversion for Half-Life 2 – Insurgency: Modern Infantry Combat – that saw more than a million free downloads and was awarded the ModDB “Player’s Choice Mod of the Year” in 2007. It is a highly intense, realistic experience. This means no cross-hairs, realistic weapon damage, and careful maneuvering.

Paying money to get into a beta is the biggest joke in the gaming industry.

"Sure, I'll pay good money to test your unfinished product."

A few million people did it with minecraft.

Well, really that thing is minecraft was in alpha/beta longer than it probably should have. Sure there were fixes but mostly it was adding to the gameplay.

All hell INS 2. This is the game that originally got me into eGO. 4 years ago and still going strong in the corp.

Another former INS member still kicking here! along with Le boss

eh, not interested, looks highly disappointing. Seems not a single thing has changed besides slightly improved graphics

Think of it this way.....this trend is coming from steam/kickstarter games. Which means it is indie devs who basically have little to no money. Paying ahead gives them more money to develop a better product. Instead of thinking of like paying to play beta think of it as being an investor in the company and helping their brand grow.

Just saying. :D

Well here is the issue.

It is not just indie developers who are pulling this crap. Bohemia Interactive, who pulled in a butt load of cash because of DayZ , is asking for $33 to be part of their Alpha...I mean holy crap. Sure it's almost like you've pre-ordered the game, but now you're locked in at the alpha stage of a game. $33 thrown into uncertainty.

How long do you think it will take before EA and Activision begin to offering paid for alphas and betas? It'll happen, just wait it, you'll have people paying $20 or $30 to play the Call of Duty:XYZ beta and then an additional $30 for the full game. The industry is going to begin to ask that we the gamers subsidize development from its beginning to its end.

If you are talking about arma 3, it is far better to buy the game in alpha stage then upon release. Reason? You are paying %50 of the total game price, arma 3 will be $60 upon release, and you get to make the game smoother, lets be honest arma 2 was lacking in the completion department. If EA and Activision would be foolish enough to make you pay for beta and then pay more for the full release, then I will enjoy watching them slowly die off, while facepalming at those who paid two times for the same game.

Paying for Call of Duty is insanity. That franchise is garbage now.
whosmad?

Yeah I find it hard for me to fork over any money for any alpha game. Beta I don't feel too bad about because that should be just polishing the game and refining it over a complete over haul of mechanics.

But I'm biased when it comes to indi games... I don't mind throwing a few bucks at a game because it is usually never over $20 for an alpha or beta stage indi game that I think has potential or something that I even find just quirky. I have found some real gems this way.

But in the end it is your money. You should do what you want with it! But like some have said. I do see a shift into getting consumers to buy into a concept of a game (or movie or really anything for that matter). This I find frighting.

Call of Duty: Black Ops II made...$500 million in 24 hours...$1 billion in 15 days.

I mean, holy crap. If Activision offered up a paid Call of Duty beta, they'd be rolling in the dough.

INS 2 is awesome! Even though its alpha still!
Oh, and CoD is for kids imho(no teamplay, just run and shoot).
I started to play Ins in 2009 and its the best FPS I've ever played!
