Valve replacement?

So I found out today that my dad has to have his aortic valve replaced...I have looked into the procedure online and the after effects and all but I was curious if anyone has any first hand experience such as family members or friends having the surgery?

my grandfather had it done well in the past.. they use pig valves as transplants. the draw back is depending on his age, it may need to be replaced again years down the road. Recovery is like any open heart surgery.. long and painfull unfortunately.. his ribs will hurt for quite awhile.

=( Sorry for the rough news Pred. I know a couple people who have had to have the same procedure done. He might have to be in the hospital for about 2 days after and the average recovery time is about 3 months. Let us know if you need anything or if ya just need to talk to someone =)
