Before coming here I've tried googling the issue only to find no answers or stuff that I've already done.

We have a Netgear dual band router my dad bought over a year ago. Recently it starts losing internet connection at the most randomness times. The past 2 weeks its gotten worse. It'll drop connection 2-3 times in one day, sometimes it'll go 2 days without doing it. We'll unplug the router, wait 10-20 secs then plug it back up only to still not have internet access until 30mins to an hour+ later and sometimes it'll lose it again.

Me and my mom are wireless whereas, my dad is wired and even he loses connection when the light goes off or turns orange.

It's generally on 24/7 sometimes I'll turn it off during the night if I'm the last one up. We've updated the firmware to the latest version. Password protected. Nothing has changed, it's pretty much been in the same spot since we got it.

I would need further information to help, but are you using IP-6?
Lot of the time routers will drop connection if too many devices are connecting to it at once. It doesn't matter what the bandwidth is, it will still drop if the router doesn't support as many.

You're taking the right procedure to reset your router but what about the modem? The modem is usually what your ISP has provided so that you have access to the internet and then the router is what allows multiple computers to communicate on the network and reach out to the internet if connected to a modem. Try unplugging the modem and letting the power drain from it before plugging the power back in. Sometimes there is even a reset button on the modem itself that you can use. If you continue to have trouble, see if you can remove the router from the equation and plug just one computer into the modem and see if the problems continue. If the problem continues then you have an issue with either the modem or one of the coaxial cables/connections responsible for delivering that signal to your modem. Sometimes a connection gets dropped to a weak signal and that is when you will need to contact your provider to help troubleshoot the issue. They will not provide support for your "network issues" when a router is involved so be sure you remove the router out of the equation to be sure it's an ISP issue. I hope all of that information helps clear up things for you and hopefully gets you a resolution to your intermittent connectivity issue.

Hey, if none of that works, I have a really reliable old skool Linksys 4-port router that you can have if you want. Been looking for some way to put it to good use. All you would have to do is pay s&h. Free free to pm me if this thread doesnt resolve your issue.

I don't know if I'm using IP-6, how do I tell? we've unplugged the modem before, I think it's the modem anyway( I'm dumb when it comes to this part of computers). When the ISP people came last time they gave us a white box, which im guessing is the modem or whatever, it's right next to my dads computer, other than that I've never seen anything else.

Read my post and try to do the suggested steps to narrow down the problem and report back when you've done this. Either that or just call the service provider and see if they can assist. Let me know! :)
