Several hundred years ago, humans were nearly exterminated by titans. Titans are typically several stories tall, seem to have no intelligence, devour human beings and, worst of all, seem to do it for the pleasure rather than as a food source. A small percentage of humanity survived by walling themselves in a city protected by extremely high walls, even taller than the biggest of titans.

Flash forward to the present and the city has not seen a titan in over 100 years. Teenage boy Eren and his foster sister Mikasa witness something horrific as the city walls are destroyed by a colossal titan that appears out of thin air. As the smaller titans flood the city, the two kids watch in horror as their mother is eaten alive. Eren vows that he will murder every single titan and take revenge for all of mankind.

Personally, I think this is one of the top tier shows this season and I have been loving every episode of it. Especially the episode last week. I did not expect it to be that intense and I am surprised they "killed" Eren. Although I'm sure he will fight his way out.

Didn't know there was anime of this, i only read the manga so far.
 
Oh man, I'm loving every second of this show.

Never read the manga, but the intensity of this show is crazy. The animation and the art is also really really good.

Not to mention the soundtrack. It's brilliant.

A week seems too long for episode 6 to come out.

Like I said above, this is probably one of, if not, my favorite show this season. Can't wait for the next episode. The development so far has been great. But about the art style, I don't know if I think it's "really good" but it's different. I don't think I have seen such thick outlines in a while but then again, I feel that it is appropriate for this show as it takes a more serious and mature tone.
 
Not sure how I would feel about the live action....
 
Episode 6 was very interesting, as always. The beginning was very strong.

Mikasa's the coolest.

So begins my shipping of Mikasa and Eren.
 
This show. Really loving it. I was concerned when they didn't focus on Eren at the start, but when I noticed they were going into the backstory I let that go. We will have to wait until next week to see Eren hack and slash is way out of the titan.

Well the preview from episode 5 pretty much told us that episode 6 was gonna be a flashback episode.

Anyways, the beginning was still rather excellent. Armin dealing with seeing all his friends dead and having a sort of breakdown. I'm concerned he's turning into that whiny "I'm always weak" type of character though.

I'm rather shocked that Eren was impulsive enough to
brutally kill Mikasa's kidnappers at the age of what I would assume is 13 or 14.
That was really sort of scary.

I really love how the ending left behind some pretty big dramatic irony. Mikasa stating that as long as she's with Eren, she can do anything. I'm expecting the next episode to be unbelievably intense.
 
@Goz, I believe they mentioned he was 10 in the episode. If not, I think he was 10. BTW, you don't need to put that in spoilers if it already happened in the anime. The spoilers are really for things that have not yet happened in the anime.

I did a little research and Eren is 15 as of the current episode. Which is in year 850. The events of the killing took place in the year 844. So he was 9 years old when he killed those two people. Still pretty close to 10, but that's just crazy. I am starting to understand why both he and Mikasa were able to use the gear so effectively. I'm sure already killing someone and/or witnessing events like this give you some advantage. Doubt they will go into detail on the "natural talent" they mentioned earlier. Man, a week is just too long to wait for the next episode!

I would think that for Mikasa, her natural talent comes from pure survival instinct that she picked up from Eren.

Regardless, she's still the coolest.
 
I love it. I read the manga all day today (no life and skipped a few pages/chapters since I've watched the Anime lol *shot*), it just gets too interesting... '-'
