Help my Mic wont work...

My mic wont work, it was just working the other day and now it wont. My headphones work.

I re installed codec and drivers.. I have it plugged in correctly..

I googled and still can't find anything.

I have realtek audio, and cyber acoustic headphones...

So to kind a bump this and to make new info, i restored my windows back a few days and the mic worked once, then i tried to test it in windows what ever and it stopped, so im like lets try the web cam mic, this works now.. which it didnt before.. So im stuck with a webcam mic instead of my headset mic, it works.. so im not that sad..

Its really really odd, but i can't wait to get my new computer.. in months q.q

Let me know if you don't know how to access these options and I'll explain in more detail. This is what I would check first in your case.

1. Device manager: does your microphone show up? Are there any yellow icons or exclamation marks, question marks, etc.? This means there is a driver missing for the device or devices that need attention.

2. If device manager checks out go to your sound settings and make sure your headset is enabled and the default input device (microphone).

3. The software you're using to communicate to others using your mic needs to be pointing to your microphone as the default device unless it is set to use the "default device" and you will need to set your mic as the default device in sound settings of your OS.

Let me know if any of this is confusing and I'll try to explain in detail but those who know what I'm referencing, this could have been a massive wall of text. Report back with results when you have time. Thanks and good luck!

My mic driver/ sound driver is installed correctly and i reinstalled it

My headset is enabled..

It was working the day before..

I can wait like a few months if the webcam mic works, but if it just stops ill just cry and go crazy because i can't talk to anyone..

does your headset have a mic mute switch? if it does, make sure it is not turned off.

Well this problem really really is odd, i tested the mic on my brothers computer, even though it worked for a short period of time on mine after i went back on my hard drive, it doesn't now. I still got a mic though so im ok.

sounds like communication issues if it worked on your brothers pc and temporarily worked on yours again lol.

this could vary depending on the connection though like usb, P/G, etc.
