So just curious, do we have anyone thats apart of the forums that is a firefighter or possibly has a friend/family member who is a firefighter? I know that you have to be in peak shape (which I am for the most part) & I understand that theres an exam that you have to pass, but is there anything else that I should know about when it comes to becoming a firefighter?

i Had a step mother who was in the firefighting service for 8 years she said she loved it.

Things to look out for:

You get paid by the fire, at the time she got twelve dollars a fire, whether it was a car fire, or a forest fire.

You must have your gear on you 24/7 and ready to respond at ANYTIME. She told me she had to leave her brothers birthday to fight a fire

Be prepared to see dead people and gore, she told me she saw a man trapped in a car and burned to death.

So watch out, its a great thing, its just really tough

Hey Pillar, if you want to, add me on Steam. My dad was a firefighter for over 20 years.

I had helped some of the firefighter trainees at the local academy on their 48hour training. They would randomly be woken up and have a call come through the radio. They'd have to get ready and we had a few scenarios set up. such as car accidents, car fires, drunk people playing with fire, garbage fires, ect ect

after about the 24 hours they looked really tired. By 48 hours i thought they were going to pass out holding the hose lol.

Some things that may be helpful. Dont get mesmerized by the fire running across a roof. Its very beautiful

Also my stepdad while in the volunteer department, had a accident where he fell 2 stories and landed on his back. Lucky hes actually still alive and able to walk, the head from the concrete on the floor burnt holes in his jacket.

Also calls for motorcycle accidents on the highway aren't pretty. You can expect some blood, gore, and possibly the missing toe occasionally :P
