New power supply.

ok, so recently i upgraded my gaming pc and i dont think the power supply is cutting it. Heres the one i currently have

Anyways i need a new one. My PC randomly shuts off while playing crysis 3 and other demanding games. My CPU and GPU does not get too hot so it cant be that and my old GPU required less power and ive never had this issue. my PSU is cheap and i want one that is reliable and can supply the power in need. and has to be below $100

2x DVD drives
2x 1TB WD Green HDD's
Intel Core i3 2100
HD 5850 OC'd (requires 2 6pin connectors)
Total of 5 fans connected to the mobo
NZXT LED strip
 
That first one is just a little pricey :P but they have some nice power supplies that are pretty cheap. Thanks for the link!
 
Hi,

Don't be too hasty. How can you be that certain it is your PSU?
Is your computer able to make a crashdump? Have you checked faulty RAM? What isn't too hot, did you check the tempertures?

I question your conclusion because I fail to see how your system could suck up 650W. I don't want to see you buying a new PSU without the need for it.

I used this and calculated everything and the BARE minimum for my system was 600watts. Thats not calculating the oversized and 180mm LED fans and LED strip.

And it does not get ANY BSOD. It just shuts off then reboots itself after a while of playing Crysis. I tried it on my old HD 5670 and moved my 5850 to my stepdads PC with a 800watt PSU and it never shut off, so it leads me to a PSU problem.

thats the one i'm looking at. Modular 80plus bronze and 750watts
 
stay away from psu names like, Ultra, Corsair... believe me when I say their product is not worth the money. Ive never used an EVGA psu, but if it is built like the rest of their products, it should be a solid, well built psu. The drawback is, that it's only semi-modular.. your going to have uneeded cables to try and route out of the way.

@wizekraker -- did you read some of the reviews for that Corsair psu. Several died in 1 months time and 1 guys actually caught on fire. Probably not the high-end product they try to make it out to be.

hmm looks good, not modular but givin the price and 80plus certified AND 750watts. seems good to me :)

yea i know that now. It was the PSU that was in a friends pc before he went all beast PC on at and got a 1000watt. But its lasted 2 years in my system and 1 year in his.
 
Don't just look for a cheap PSU. You never want to cheap out on one of the most important parts of your PC. If you get a cheap one and it goes, it might take a few more parts with it

Wow really...I have older version of this and still running strong almost 2 years now.

+1 , had a psu blow up on me a few years back... sounded like a bolt of lightening... it was an Ultra. Luckily, it didn't take out anything but itself.

if you need to, save your money for a month or so.. have a bit larger budget then and get something rock solid. Also, Fathers Day is the 16th... I guarantee there will be sales on Newegg and TigerDirect.

hmm thanks guys. And wow. I think i would have pooped myself if it did that. The Ultra's seem to be good at not taking anything out with it. Several reviews that people had something go pop didn't have anything else break.

There will always be the few faulty power supplies. Cant judge a power supply off of a few bad reviews out of thousands of good ones :P
