Hey guys. I've been playing TF2 since the first day it came out and haven't had any problems with choppiness (except when my schools crappy internet acts up) but lately I've been getting a lot of choppiness in the games and I don't know why. It keeps happening while my ping is under 70 so I know it's not lag and I know it's not my computer because I built a new one over the summer. Any thoughts as to what might be causing it?

Is it on all servers or just eGO servers? I can't answer for other servers, but the eGO servers seem to have started with this shortly after the admin mod was added. I had no issues whatsoever ingame and then when it was added I get times where its really choppy and my ping is fine and other times where its runs smooth as can be.

Give it some time, if it is the admin mod causing it, I am sure it will be worked out as the mod is still extremely beta and they are constantly working on it.

its probably wut i have... low fps. its choopy but not laggy. hers a link to help you out alhtough it didnt hel pme :)

I really only play on eGO servers anymore, but yes, recently (ie. last week or so) I've been noticing some ugly choppiness. Steady 70-100fps and a <100 ping, but in random bursts it FEELS like they're lower.

I understand what you are saying Blindsfell, except that this didnt start happening untill after the admin mod was installed. I never once had any issues ingame until then and never ever heard anyone else men tion it ingame. And the strangest thing is that when it happens to me others have it happen at the same exact time.

oh and to add to the choppiness issue...I was curious if my framerate was actually dropping so I tried using the FPS monitor that xfire has and my framerate under normal conditions(w/o the chopiness is around 100...during the chopiness it stays in the same ballpark, and my ping doesnt change either, so its not on my end.

And aside from all that I shouldnt be having the issues on my end, especially if you have seen the specs I have posted in the tech thread about systems. I have a top end vid card( 2 x 8800 ultras), 4 gigs of ram, and run all my games on a 10000 rpm raptor drive that is defrag'ed and scanned regularly.

Didn't know this was here, i made a post on general forums, the problem might be the new shader detail that valve added, thats what people on the steam forums have been pointing at!
