So I've pretty much built the computer with absolutely no problems aside from the last step I took before installing all my stuff on it.
For what ever reason my computer is not recognizing my 1tb HDD. Every time I have tried to format it it either says "Windows is unable to complete the format" or it DOES format, and then once something gets installed it almost immediately disconnects.
When it does this the only way to get it back to where I can access any options for it I much restart the computer. Then the process just repeats itself.
- I've reseated the sata/power cables on both the mobo and the drive
- I've switched out the sata cables for new ones and checked all connections
..... and I can't seem to find an answer that works on the internet. The gigabyte BIOS also doesn't even recognize the HDD.
When I took it out of the anti static bag I accidentally touched the bottom of it for a brief moment, could I have possibly ruined it or something? I assumed it wasn't that fragile but I could be wrong.
Among all of this the computer seems to have slowed down a ton. Restarts used to take no more than 10 seconds when I was doing windows/driver updates, and now it takes upwards of 2 minutes.
Windows is doing a consistency check for the disc now, but assuming that doesn't fix anything in regard to the HDD recognition does anyone have any suggestions? Sorry if this seemed a little long winded... I just want this to get working. Seems like such a trivial problem compared to what I was worried I would encounter!
EDIT: "Error in writing the output log".... I guess that means I ruined it or got a bad drive........... :bored:
