Hi guys.
I just joined the clan yesterday (27th June) and installed vent, it worked fine all evening. However, today when I boot up the computer and open up vent and connect to the server all seems for about 1 minute until it flags up this message:

"Your sound input device has stopped sending data to the Ventrilo client. Please verify that your sound drivers are up to date, that you have selected the correct sound input device and that it is properly attached to your computer. USB microphone devices can come loose and some sound cards will shutdown the input port if your microphone is not properly connected to the sound card.

If you click Setup, and then click the OK button, the Ventrilo client will attempt to reset your sound input device."

After this message is displayed (vent works fine before) it is almost as if the vent screen partially freezes (the little sound horn marker beside my name becomes frozen in either the green "on" position or in the "off" position).

I've tried clicking setup and ok several times but that hasn't worked. I've also tried changing the input device that I'm using (I use the built in mic in my desktop computer). But that didn't work either. I've also tried searching for any updates to my sound devices, but they are all running the latest drivers.

In case it's important, I think (although I'm not sure) that my normal in game voice chat has stopped working too, so that might suggest a problem with the sound card itself?

I'd be grateful for and suggestions as to how I might get ride of this problem.

Many thinks.

Hey Strawberry,

I have copied your thread into the Tech Help section of the Forums to see if anyone there can lend a hand with your problem also.

One thought, have you checked your microphone/headset? Is it inputting to your sound card and vent?

I get this same issue. I'm notorious for having a crappy mic; every time I come in, my voice sounds like a high pitched chipmunk

What I have to do is unplug the mic usb from my computer; wait a little bit, then reconnect it. I then go back to setup, and then just rekey the Push-To-Talk key, then click OK. Once I join a channel, I usually just do a quick "testing, testing" announcement. If it didn't work, I gotta disconnect/reconnect the mic again and redo the PTT key again.

I do not know why my computer does this all the time; most likely an issue with the built-in sound codecs and my logitech mic. But the above is the cheap (free)) way to deal with it.
