Some of us have really easy names to pronounce, mostly because they're English phrases or words. But to those of us with odd names, thought I'd start a thread on how to pronounce them or what you would like to be called in game. ie. I call MadScotsman "Scotty" because it's easy and it cracks me up, but he might want to be called something else.

So if your name gets mispronounced a lot or you have specific nicknames you like/dislike, post here and I'll update the list.

Sarcasm aside, I'm putting it on there because I have a slavic friend who can't do the "squ" sound to save his life.
 
Didn't take it as mean. I'd have put the "Dude...dude...hey, you...yeah you..." part as your nickname, but that's a lot of phonetics to sound out and I'm really way too lazy for that.


Besides, I'm really really hard to offend. You should meet my wife, she could offend Charles Manson.

So, yeah - two things, if this was really just to let people pronounce your name correctly why are there like 5 posts from lafinass - but only 1 was about pronunciation. Adding to your post count? And #2, this one is a biggie, you arent even sperating your name phonetically correctly. To be phonetic such as in the dictionary, you break the name up into sylables. Last time I checked Squid was one sylable. As in: (Sil_uh_bull). (I used uh because I cant make the proper signs over the vowels but it would be an A with a u above it.

You don't like the thread, you could just not take part in it instead of being a jerk?

Seriously though, no need to be rude. It's not really harming anything, this thread. And I would contribute more but I don't think anyone has any problems pronouncing my name. ...but just in case.

Also interestingly enough, my gamer name: Green_Mon-key pretty much already takes care of this. It's like I made my name knowing this thread was comming.
