Turtling? In my fort? It's more likely than you think.
It took my three months to figure out that an enemy sentry nest in our sewers, pyrosharks in the middle water, and a spy on the bridge weren't just part of the map; like Steve on Mesa.

Good ol' uber is needed
we actually stopped about 5 uber pushes from the enemy team before they finally got the intel back to their base
