Nelnet : Student Loans

Has anyone had to deal with Nelnet? I just found out my student loans have been transferred to them from Direct Loans, so now I'm worried, and freaking out. Mostly because I have seen nothing but negative, worrying reviews and responses about how the company operates, how their customer services operates, how their online portal happens to "not work" especially when you're trying to make payments... The list goes on and on.

I'm hoping someone has had to work or deal with them for a lengthy amount and time and can assure me that the negative reviews are hopefully in the minority, and are written by those mostly having issues of actually paying the loans in a timely manner, rather than good people trying to pay the loan back honestly, and Nelnet screwing them over by excessively charging them, not applying payments correctly, sending threatening, illegal and incorrect letters, and/or messing up a person's credit score....

Hey Snipeye, I have been repaying my student loans to Nelnet for years without incident. I have had no problems with them whatsoever. Feel free to look me up on Steam if you have any other questions.

My husband dealt with Nelnet for his student loans (all paid off now - yay!!), and we never had any problems with them either.

Thanks for the information, both of you. I'm feeling a little less anxious about this change, so hopefully the process will go over fine.

Side note: I wish I had the option to try and buy my loans from Direct Loans. I wonder how much they were sold to Nelnet for...
