So, actually getting around to this, after like a year's break from anything hardware. I just pulled the trigger on the parts last night, so they should be in Monday or Tuesday (thank you ShopSavers free two-day shipping wink.gif ) Thought it would be fun to do one of these for it, for my own records as much as for yall's viewing pleasure. This is pretty close to my dream rig, the only reason I didn't get it was that I didn't really want to spend more than 1,400. I'm still extremely happy with what I went with.
This is going to become my main computer that I use this fall in college (UNCC, CS major), I'm keeping my crappy Dell laptop for use in class, and when I'm away from my dorm.. But this PC is going to be seeing the majority of my use. Mainly' I'll be gaming, messing around in Source Filmmaker, and maybe doing some more graphic design stuff. But basically, its for gaming. I may be overclocking later. If I do, I will probably be buying an additional fan or two to throw in there. But right now I just wanna see what I can do with stock clocks. Considering I'm upgrading from a 5470M and a Nehalem i3, it'll be a massive step up, even at factory settings.
Okay, enough of my drivel. Onto the spec:
* = Already own these
CPU: Intel i5-3570K (3.4 GHz)
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO
Motherboard: Gigabyte Z77X-UD3H. I really should have gone with the MSI Z77A-GD65, it was only like 15 bucks more expensive. But oh well, its a tiny step down.
GPU: MSI GTX 670 Power Edition. I'm really excited about this. Not only is it a beast at OCing, due to MSI being boss, but it's also factory overclocked, and I get Metro: LL and 3DMark for free.
Memory: 8GB (2x4GB) Corsair Vengeance 1600 MHz
SSD: Samsung 840 Series 120GB
Storage: Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB
PSU: Rosewill HIVE 650W 80+ Bronze
Optical Drive: Lite On iHAS124-04 DVD/CD Writer
Case: Fractal Design Define R4 (Arctic White)
Monitor: Asus VS238H-P 23.0"
Keyboard: Microsoft SIDEWINDER X4 Wired Gaming Keyboard
Mouse: Razer Abyssus*
Surface: steelseries Qck*
Note: THESE HAVE ALREADY BEEN BOUGHT!! So any comments along the lines of "Get this instead of that, blah blah blah" are not neccessary.
As soon as I get all these parts, I will get pictures up, and then get to building as soon as I can.
