Why do you play games and how did you get into games?

I play online video games because As you can as from my personality disorder test i'm egotastical and antisocial (I ususally deny it but everyone I know thinks I am :blush so generally I play most games in an attempt to get good at them.
I generally play in my free time (all the time) and with my friends :laugh:
I got into video games when I was a kid (dont remember exactly when) and got a nintendo 64, the played a game by the name of banjo 'n' kazooie, I got into more competetive games around when i started playing pokemon ruby.

So my question which you should have already read is, Why do you play Video Games and what got you into Video Games?

I play games because I need something to cure my boredom when I'm home doing nothing (minus house work and stuff).
I'm not a very outgoing person (Developed since childhood) (I have no where to go except go for a walk or go to places I most likely go to (Dairy Queen, grocery store, etc.)) and I'm very shy.. '_'

My brother has a Super Nintendo, I would play Super Mario World (and get yelled at later lol) but what got me into gaming was Halo PC back in summer 2005, I saw my brothers playing it, tried it, and completely got addicted to it.

I also live in Arizona (Tempe) so I understand your pain. Our temps outside have been completely obnoxious lately... :closedeyes:

I've been playing games since Sonic the Hedgehog came out on Sega Genesis. Granted, it's not as old as people who started earlier on the older systems like the nes, but I'm still proud. Me and my dad would trade off in that game when I was really little (21 now) and I loved it.
Now it's become my pastime. I love the feeling of achievement when I get a new gear drop, or get a nice TF2 killfeed.

and after this i stopped all together

Later i had surgery and got a piece of bone surgically removed wich where blocking my elbow joint

and now a days i don't do 8 hour sessions anymore....And i went back 2 sucking but i still love playing thou not as much 4 the competitive side but im more in 2 the social side now a day

For the atari 2600...

Two reasons:

1) Because I love the stories that singleplayer games tell, and the emotion they can give. Anyone who has played Spec Op's: The Line will understand what I mean. That game has been the first in a long time to make me feel guilty for my actions...

2) Online aspect and hilarity. I play mostly realism games (ArmA 2 etc), and being on a server connected with like minded people (anonymously) has lead to some of the greatest banter I have ever had, as proven in this recent round I played (luckily recorded by another player).

i play for fun obviously.

i played videogames all throughout my childhood, but they were just a diversion the same way you might play monopoly on a rainy day. the games that really hooked me were red alert and the q3test. it also helped that those came out when i was in college and had a lot of free time.
