All time shooter...

Yeah, I was watching my older brothers play Wolfenstein 3D for as far back as i can remember. That baby is old.

I've never played the original half life. Didnt seem to interest me that much. =\

Doesn't Wolfenstein 3D pre-date Doom by a good year or so?

It does, hence why i said Godfather ;) Although, in my opinion Doom was a much more challening, fun and interesting game overall. Plus THE MUSIC ROCKED. No game can compete with awesomness of the first level music.
Multiplayer over the good ol days of ipx was insane and intense as well.

im going to go with Mario and his fireball. NES All the Way

How about Duke Nukem!
That was one of the first online muliplayer FPS i ever played.... I remember playing on a dial up modem; talk about LAG!

Well, I agree with first post.. Wolf 3D kicked the genre off, and it's still a ton of fun to play :P

But.... DOOM is still better.
Doom has more mods.
People still play doom online.
Doom, 14 years later, is still FRICKEN AWESOME.

My first shooter ever was Duke Nukem 3D, so I'm going to have to go with that one!

I should change my caption to "Nemo: Letting God sort them out, since 1996."

My first FPS was Wolf 3D, but I also remember Rise of the Triad as being pretty out of control (drug mode, anyone?). The game that I wish had been more successful was Strife because it had some elements that didn't return until Deus Ex. Graphically it was behind the times, but in terms of inventive elements, it was ahead of its time.

TimeSplitters: Future Perfect. Introduced me to the FPS genre and was one of the first multiplayer games besides Super Smash Bros. and Snowboard Kids 2 that I actually enjoyed.

Started gaming on the Mac, so our godfather is Marathon. Awesome series with great multiplayer modes and mods.
On PC, the original UT. There was just something about that with the Cartman voice pack loaded that just kicked a$$. A close 2nd for me on the PC was Team Fortress:Blackhawk Down. Talk about a snipers paradise, it dealt with huge distances. It had an extremely easy but robust map editor and had some great mutliplayer maps.
