Official Division?

So, does anyone have any idea when the DotA 2 division will be made official now that the game has been officially released? I know we're small, but this division should grow eventually.

Also, we really need to grow. The fact that these forums move slower than molasses is unacceptable. I would say as soon as we become a division we should recruit, though I have a feeling recruiting for DotA 2 will be a lot more difficult than recruiting for TF2 or CS:S, because of the game type.

I want to see this division go somewhere, because it has so much potential.

Also, I have a feeling that once Techies come out, the only game I will be playing is DotA 2, so I would like a place to call home for that

I don't know that Dota will get it's own division. For all intents and purposes this forum is our division anyways. We have Event Coordinators dedicated specifically to Dota 2 and plenty of support from Op:X leadership, what more do we need?

I agree with ghettosmurf on this. Also, Flying, you can still recruit for this game or any other game that Op:X supports, hence it being a supported game by the division. Just have the applicant input the game they are applying for next to the question Which game brought you to eGO? This can be any game that Op:X actively supports (i.e. DOTA 2).

Yeah, but it would be so much easier to just have our own division. It feels like this is inferior to other divisions.

I think that feeling is derived from the inactivity of the forum itself over the past few months, which only goes to show that we'd not be quite up for full division status.

With events kicking back into gear though (starting tomorrow evening!) and the game coming out of beta, I expect it to get a bit more busy around here :)

I think you may be right. Although I'm still worried about the whole recruiting new members thing. I mean, it's not like you have enough time when in a match to wonder about some guys clan tags. And asking if anyone is interested in joining in this game would be far to annoying. The only way to do it would be to get to know people and play with them often, then ask if they are interested, which takes a while. So I suppose we wont be breaking any eGO recruiting records, but oh well.

I'm looking forward to this place becoming more active, and I hope we'll get a team going again! Casually playing pubs with eGO members is always fun, but it doesn't fill my competitive desire to beat tears out of an enemy team who was also well prepared and trained for the match >:D

There are many factors that are looked at prior to the creation of a division. The following are just a few and in no particular order:
  • Forum activity
  • Recruiting
  • Popularity of the game
  • Sustainability

While Dota 2 and others like it may not have their own division, they do have a loving home here in OP:X.

Keep the forums alive and growing. Encourage those you see in game to visit us. Start new topics, talk up current events, post in-game pics of wins.

I am not sure about Dota 2, however in World of Tanks, I wrote a couple lines in notepad that I copy / paste in game while playing. When done a battle, I check for in-game messages and follow up from there.

This is the first post I've seen from you for a while.

Come to events. Help us grow. Tell your friends to come to events and help us grow. That's what we need to develop.

It really can't be justified right now. Look at the current activity of DOTA2, its just not high enough in eGO.

The game is only being supported in Op:X currently. It is no where near where it needs to be to Officially become it's own division.

The only way it will grow is by the members (you guys) helping out by showing up to events and inviting your friends to play with eGO in Dota 2.

Alright, time to find friends who aren't... well... you know the DotA 2 community...
