Yeah, watching servers sitting empty for days on end is pretty painful.
Nobody (and by that I mean like maybe one or two people do) seeds the servers during the day. A few times this last week I entered 2Fort around 6AM EST to come back from from work around 5PM to see it still empty. Scrolling thru the server messages reveals the server was dead the whole time, and obviously I never got AFK kicked.
It's 10PM EST on a Saturday right now, and DB is barely alive, 2Fort is half empty.
We have quite a few members in the TF2 division, but it's absolutely undeniable that the drive from people to fill servers is kaput.
The server IP change screwed things a lot, but to still say that's the reason now is a little silly. The division is not like it was a year ago. It's not to say leadership now is bad or anything. TBH I think we've had pretty good leadership the last few years, but there have been quite a few spats between members and some of the most dedicated people in our community left in large groups. It's gonna be a struggle to turn this around.
