First a little background noise, not necessary but it does give a rare glimpse at the extravagant lives of Irsh and 2sl0w.

Me and 2sl0w both live in downtown Atlanta and work in property management. Our company works with mostly (see: all) lower income housing (see: ghetto). The other day we evicted a family from an apartment and when the marshal showed up to deliver the eviction he found drugs, fully automatic weapons, and a couple of bullet proof vests. Neat huh?

So anyways, the story: 2sl0w is at this property with his company vehicle that everyone at this property knows...everyone. He walks away for 5-10 minutes and in that time span the minors from the apartment we recently evicted(the adults are in jail) broke into his car and stole his briefcase. And by briefcase I mean: laptop(on which he plays tf2), work papers, master keys to other properties, his social security card, and his birth certificate...maybe more we're not sure yet.

So everyone keep him in good spirits when you see him(he's in Florida until tomorrow night). I'm sure he will be on here when he gets back to add other interesting facts to the story. Like the fact the the security cameras randomly stopped recording at 11:00 this morning.

I hope the rotten scuzbuckets get put into a place they get whats coming to them. No one should have that happen to them. (I know the feeling, but lost alot less valuable items)

thanks guys i appreciate it... now for the fun stuff. i can either build a new laptop... or build a new desktop. time is of the essence as i hate being down without a gaming computer (im on a dell work comp right now) so what should i buy for say 1000-1500. (no prebuilt desktops) just parts.

and to add to the story they were really pissed because i had them arrested, but to top it off they put all of their possessions in a stolen car that was stick and their family couldnt drive away... so i had it towed lol. anyways they pulled up in another stolen car when they stole everything out of my truck.. and it wasnt minors that lived there it was one of the guys who had been arrested for 3 felony's and out on bail in 12 hours.
Got to love atlanta trying to keep the rif raf off the streets.

now that they have gotten a little revenge the next step is they want to burn the buildings down... fun stuff.

ordered a dell xps 720 pc.
quadcore 2.4ghz
512mb 8800gt
350gb hd sata 3.0gb/s 16mb cache
2gb of ram
some other goodies.

i feel dirty i think i am going to build this system so i can overclock and just use the dell until i get it all in lol.

thoughts? it was 1900.00

I just went on Newegg really quick and slapped together a system with most of the same specs and then some and it came out to just over $1200 after mail-in rebates but before tax. So for the same amount you spent on the Dell could upgrade the build below to say an 8800 GT (if you could find one) and maybe some other stuff of your choice.

Here is the build I did (once again, it was quick so I might have missed some minute detail):

- Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 Kentsfield 2.4GHz LGA 775
- ASUS Striker Extreme LGA 775 NVIDIA nForce 680i SLI ATX The Ultimate Gaming Motherboard
- CORSAIR XMS2 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit
- COOLER MASTER Real Power Pro RS-750-ACAA-A1 ATX12V / EPS12V 750W Power Supply (76 total Amps on +12v)
- EVGA 256-P2-N768-A1 GeForce 8600GTS SSC 256MB 128-bit GDDR3 PCI Express x16
- Western Digital Caviar SE WD5000AAJS 500GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive
- Antec Nine Hundred Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case
- SAMSUNG 20X DVD±R DVD Burner Black SATA Model SH-S203B

cool i would use shut em down's and then use the let over 700 for extra upgrades. Like bigger ram and better proccessor.

Gawd, now we're all buying quad cores? I was happy with my bloody Pentium 2 until two years ago.

I've started using the Ars Technica System Guide (which has been updated for the latest tech, BTW) when I'm planning a system.

Cooler Master Centurion 5 ATX Mid Tower case

Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3P Intel P35 Motherboard

EVGA GeForce 8800GT 512MB Video Card

Corsair ATX12V 450W Power Supply

Intel Core 2 Duo E6750 Processor

2GB Mushkin DDR2 800 SDRAM

Western Digital Caviar SE16 250GB SATA Hard Drive

Acer AL2016WBbd 20" Widescreen LCD Monitor

The whole kaboodle comes out to $1,100 (give or take). Use any extra cash to bump up the hard drive capacity (250 gigs is more than enough for me, dunno about you), add a sound card, etc.

wow. well ill have to look into it for those prices i could go SLI thanks for looking those both look great.

Dude, don't kid yourself, get a stinking desktop. You can upgrade the video card once it becomes obsolete, that alone makes it far superior than any laptop ever.

i am now. but dont knock laptops so hard they have come a long way.. my laptop that was stolen went from an x300 -> 6800ultra -> 7800 GTX.
