[ENGINEER SKIN] Mario as an Engineer UPDATE: V1.1

Zadori: You just went one folder too far. Go to the folder called 'killgagnon' and drag the 'team fortress 2' folder in my ZIP in there. It should replace the folder you already have in there.

Yoo-Hoo, you obviously have much more experience than I and know what you are doing if your talking about actual in-game distortion/brush-strokes/lighting/etc. I just alt-tab, export, fumble around in photoshop, import, and alt-tab again :).

Your Mario does blend very well with the TF2 characters and I see what you were going for now. My Mario stands out like a sore thumb now and it's kind of hard to tell if he is on the Blu or Red team with the saturation I put on it.

Anyway, I'm glad I did hack your model up, as I may go through and saturate up both sides to make them all a little bit more 8-bit.

Actually this is only my third skin for Source games, the first since mid '05, in fact. I've just read/watched interviews about TF2's art style and listened to the developer commentary where Valve workers explained their reasoning behind things and how they designed each character and such. It's not like I just looked at the skins and knew exactly why they did what they did and why. And the distortion stuff was all trial and error. In fact there was a ton of trial and error with this thing since the small details of the skin weren't really differentiated very well in the texture file and they seem to be prone to a lot of texture stretching. I used the Half Life Model Viewer (which is in the Source SDK) to test things, though. A lot quicker and easier than going in-game.

By the way, how would you like to be credited if I do make some question block ammo boxes? I'm fetching sprites right now.

I updated both Mario and Luigi. Their overalls should no longer shine like they were made of plastic.
