AMD simply makes reasonably priced equipment. Their acquisition of ATI was a step forward because now processors can be integrated into video cards. However there is a stream of problems at AMD... Though they have now acquired ATI, they are experiencing what a lot of companies experience, a segregation of cultures, much like when the laws were passed to force african americans and caucasions to integrate and learn together in the same schools(The Desegregation of schools was passed in the early 1950's)-it has taken years for this to truly take effect. When AMD and ATI start learning to work as one team one fight-it will be a hellacious company.

amd bought ati 7 years ago, surely they have worked that stuff out by now.

also they are making chips for sony and microsoft for the new xbox and playstation, so they are unlikely to focus their attentions on the desktop crowd for sometime.
