Well i keep getting this message when i join a Punk Buster enabled server and its making me mad cause i can only play on Korean servers due to big ping on other servers.

I googled it and it told me to "overlay" ventrilo/teamspeak. Well i dont know how to do that so i just installed both. I never really use it cause my mic is crap. So i need help.

who ever created punk buster is an idiot. PB wow what Peanut butter?? And its to complicated. What you cant just use VAC!! omg
 
Oh yeah, it never updates automatically, you always have to do it manually. Which is annoying since theres no warning other then your game suddenly not working in multiplayer, it also kills modding games -_-
 
Ahh the rise and fall of fresh meat for the first time getting the punk buster experience.

Just so you all know, punk buster was arround a verylong time before there was such a think as VAC. Infact, it was even arround and used in CS way back in the days of good ole WON (WON was before steam). Yes that is right, there was a time before steam,... it was a better time - and punk buster was not only arround but usefull (for about as long as McHammer was popular).

I remember when it first came out, i thought it was stupid and annoying to have to install - untill suddenly, wow no hackers. I <3 punkbuster. <2 weeks later> wait a minute, there are more hackers now then before.... aww damnit.

Needles to say - when you put keep putting down these people 'who ever invented PB was an idiot' just remember that they wrote the program out of need, it did work they just couldnt keep up with the new cheats, and originally it didnt crash or cause problems.

Now it is just on the list of things that used to be wicked awsome but are no longer usefull. there is too many things on that list

This error is caused by any program that uses an "overlay" to insert itself into the Direct3D layer. The most common one is Ventrillo or Teamspeak, but in the case of COD4 it is Steam's Community. That Shift + Tab bit that lets you talk to steam friends? Yeah, it gets flagged by Punk Buster.

Steam > Settings > In-Game

Un-check "Enable Steam Community In-Game"
 
Isn't it great? They distribute the game through steam and then run an anti-cheat program that flags a part of steam. A part of steam that is on by default too.
