I think August was put in the calendar so that we would look forward to September and the coming of Autumn. Now before we fill your heads with thoughts of school and fall sports why don't you enjoy the newsletter? For this Meet the Leadership I decided to do something a little different.

Instead of interviewing the Leadership member directly, I went ahead and interviewed his leadership team and the Council. The Leadership member we honor this month is Rocko, who has recently retired from his position as the Council member representing the COD Division.

Now, let's see what the Call of Duty and Council team had to say about Rocko's time spent as Divisional Council for the Call of Duty division.

When I first joined EdgeGamers I would read my division forums, and that was about it. For the curious, I no longer wear division tags. The newsletter serves all of eGO and I try to treat every division as if I am one of its active members; but I digress. By never reading anything but the forums in my division I was missing out on a great deal of what eGO has to offer. I would like to highlight one sub-forum that I think every member should read. It is even subtitled "Important community threads".

Click on the forums tab and near the top, you will find the Information Center. It's tucked under the General Forum in the Main category. As you pass through you may want to peruse the General Forum. It is a great place to find all kind of tidbits that are not division specific.

The Information Center is on the small side as forums go. It only has eight threads in it and all of them are locked. However almost all of them were written by an EdgeGamers Council member and they have information the Council wants you to know. Most of them are short, you can probably read everything in fifteen minutes or so.

Here are the ones I would most like to recommend:

e-Bullying

(This pretty much spells out one of the core reasons EdgeGamers exists.)​

The Personnel Service Center has had changes aplenty in the past month, ranging from changes in leadership to restoration of existing programs. Don't forget if you are an eG or eGO ranked member that you can apply for the PSC. Just contact a PSC Advisor.

Remember that 2sl0w guy, who was Council for both the PSC and BattleField divisions? Well now he represents the BF division, and the PSC’s own CopperAle has taken up the position as Council for the PSC. Some familiar faces have recently stepped down. Those people being: DaddyO, Lt.Nond, and Tumblin. Oh, and I, Lucas15, was brought up to assist Meades and SkylineGTR in the Advisor world.

The Event Coordinators team of the PSC has recently received a huge overhaul. Currently, Dead Tom and Blindy (DL’s of PSC) are in charge of the program. Be on the lookout for event listings that the PSC will be hosting for you. Not a member of the PSC? You are still welcome to join the events; they are opened to all members of eGO to attend. With that said, please welcome the newest team of Event Coordinators to the PSC:

Finally, the PSC Trainers roster has changed a bit. Dr3am took over my position on the team, and, after reviewing several applications submitted by members of the PSC, leadership agreed that TheJollyRoger would take over the reigns as a new PSC Trainer. PSC Leadership is sure that he will do a fine job, as he has already shown potential as an Admin Trainer for the CS division.

With nearly 1500 hours of Counter-Strike under my belt, to say that I enjoy Counter-Strike is a bit of an understatement...but I feel I need to make a confession...this article is about Battlefield 3. "What's the deal, Squirt?", you ask.

Quite simply, here's the deal: I've been playing Battlefield 3 quite a bit this month, and I must say, I'm looking forward to Battlefield 4, which comes out this fall.

I was surprised to find that the most fun I have is when I'm in Ventrilo while playing on one of our servers. When I interviewed Music and Skagnatti a few months ago, both Advisors agreed that being in Ventrilo while playing was what really solidified the fun of the Battlefield experience. Now I can say that is completely true! Some of you may not be fans of Ventrilo, and I am normally right there with you. I can tell you though, that since learning how to play BF3, and getting to know some of the regulars in the game, the BF3 Ventrilo channels are a blast.

Lately, recruitment has been a priority, for both the division and its competitive team (which plays on Saturdays at noon, ET). Anyone is welcome to apply, and your skill level does not necessarily determine whether can play competitively (they asked yours truly, for heaven's sake!). Just contact KILLERCANKILL and apply to the usergroup, accessed via the "My Groups" dropdown.

I give the Battlefield 3 Division and game two big thumbs up, and encourage you to check out their forums, game, and Ventrilo channels. Also, keep an eye out for specials running through EA's Origin service for the Battlefield 4 Beta tests, pre-ordering the game, and special packages.

First, think happy thoughts. Got some? Good. Feel yourself floating up, up, that's it. Now focus on the first star to the right and straight on to MineCraft. You have entered MineCraft SkyWorld. Soar through the sky like Peter Pan, or UnderDog or MineCraftMan. Shared inventories with the other survivor worlds means you can bring your favorite items from Delta. Explore new terrain. Mine differently than you ever have before. So I ask again. Do you have your happy thought?

While you are feeling light-headed here is a little tidbit you should think on: The MC EC team is looking for more members. If you have any interest and an eGO rank, please contact FirezFury. So what does an event coordinator do? They plan and run (coordinate) events. Duh!

What's a MineCraft event like? Well if you have not participated in one yet get your shovel and pails ready for the first week of August. From 8PM ET on Sunday the 4th until 8PM ET on the 11th. Your MC EC team will be having a week in the sun. Come on down near the surf and build your very own sandcastle, MineCraft style. Rumor has it the best sandcastle will be rewarded with something nearly as nice as the envy of your friends.

Sandcastles not your thing? I bet you can think up a few good events. Take the reigns and show us how it's done. So get a hold of FirezFury and accept a role that may be your first step towards leadership in EdgeGamers.

Wargaming:
Edgegamer's OP:X Division: World of Tanks has been renamed to WarGaming. This change embraces WarGaming's next release in the "World of" Trilogy, World of WarPlanes (WoWP). World of WarPlanes entered open beta on July 2, 2013 with many new additions and updates including excellent mouse control for those who prefer a mouse over a joystick. We are also looking forward to the highly anticipated, barrel booming, liquid displacing massive metal mayhem trilogy addition: World of WarShips (WoWS). Alpha and possibly closed beta testing for WoWS are expected to start in 2014.

PlanetSide 2:
eGO Planetside 2 has implemented a Recruiting rewards program which rewards members for their recruiting efforts with in-game Station Cash.

Major Patches are released on a bi-weekly schedule and the game is constantly changing so if you have played before but not in a while be sure to check out the new changes.

Starcraft 2
Many old-school RTS players remember what it was like to use one game disc to spawn in a second player. Back in the heyday of Warcraft II and the original StarCraft, you could bring a player (who didn’t yet own the game) into your game and play together. We called it Spawning, and we’re pleased to announce that Spawning is now available in StarCraft II.

Now, anyone who hasn’t yet purchased StarCraft II can still play, thanks to the Starter Edition. While Starter Edition players have access to much of the game, there are many features that they could not try before upgrading to the full game. Spawning closes that gap. Any player at a lower expansion level who joins a party that includes a player at a higher expansion level is Spawned up, and gets to play using the features and options of the highest expansion level for as long as they remain in a party with the player who owns the higher level expansion pack.

For example, when a Starter Edition player joins a party with a Wings of Liberty-level player, both are instantly playing Wings of Liberty. When those two players then join a party with a Heart of the Swarm-level player, they all immediately gain access to Heart of the Swarm content, and they keep that access until their party no longer includes any higher-expansion level players.* It's time to Party!

Welcome to Team Fortress 2 - The video game where you get to run around shooting things with different characters and wear hats! What’s new for you this month? Well, Let’s see...

Last month TF2 had the pleasure of adding two new Advisors to the Leadership team, Fullmetal and Sephiroth. Both are in charge of the EC program, which allows Kazoo to focus on DL tasks and other real life obligations.

TF2 had a huge Free-For-All tournament on July 27th. It was a great success and several lucky (or skilled) participants received the following prizes:

Grand Prize: an Asus VS247H-P 24 inch Full-HD LED Monitor or a monitor of your choice valued up to $225;

Second Place: 10 Crate Keys (providing the recipient access to special TF2 items);

3rd, 4th and 5th Place: 5 Crate Keys;


Congratulations to the Winners of those Prizes! And please give a BIG THANKS to Wilson!! for organizing that wonderful event.

If you have not played TF2 for a while, you should give it another try. All of the new weapons and gizmos that are available for all of the classes have made this a whole new game.
