Chromebook

Does anyone here have a Chromebook and care to share their experience? I've been looking into a cheap and portable laptop to use for grad school. It's a shame netbooks have been replaced by tablets because a netbook would have been perfect and I refuse to give in to the tablet craze. I know the purpose of the Chromebook and what it does, and I think for note taking, paper writing, and research, it can fit my needs. The thing I am most wary about is that it is not Windows and I am a purebred Windows guy. That and it needing to be connected to the internet to do mostly everything. I have internet at home and at school obviously so I don't think I should be as apprehensive about that as I am, but I still want to be able to do basic stuff offline such as just taking notes or working on a paper. I believe there is some offline compatibility. I mainly want to know how easy it is to do simple stuff that you would with Microsoft Word, like writing a paper, saving it to the computer, and opening it up to edit whenever, regardless of internet connection. I think Google Docs can be used offline now, and that you can save files locally to the Chromebook, so I guess this would be the equivalent to what I stated about Word? The only thing I don't like is the hassle to print, which I guess I would just have to email it to myself and print from another computer, which would be simple at home or at school, but still not the simplicity you would want.

Anyway, any feedback about the computer would be good, like how difficult or easy it was to get used to the Google OS from Windows, or how it works with your student needs. Like I said I really want something portable, cheap, and solely for work, and I think this would fit perfectly, it's just my inexperience with anything except Windows that's causing me to hesitate. They still have some netbooks left like the Acer Aspire, but its hard finding one under $300 and even harder to find one with Windows 7 and not 8. I think at that point I would rather just spend less money and learn the Google OS.

Sure, I've had to deal with a few before. Here's the thing about chromebooks. The reason they open and close super fast is because of the 2 gb SSD. Only problem with it is that you can't download programs to it. It's only for something that your talking about. My mathlab My Chemlab and Email. Text docs too. So I recommend the Samsung one. It's 229$ USD here. Google OS seems like a cellphone os. Pretty easy to figure out. The only thing I reccomend getting as a bonus is a USB mouse.
