Good evening eGO,
I got back from Quakecon 2013 today, where I was lucky enough to get a chance to get some playtime in on Elder Scrolls Online, and get to interview the devs. Post your questions below and I'll be happy to answer what I can as I am not under an NDA. Please be aware though, I only got about 2 hours playtime in so I can't answer all, but I will try my best.
Review:
Pros:
Single shard, however instanced server
Loot is not split among the party, but rather each player recieves their own drops individually
Fast traveling to party members in the open world, which means that party members can split up and work on different areas of a quest
Fully voiced, except for the player themself
Profession system is fun
Talent system is intuitive, with multiple trees that can me intermingled and makes for a variety of choices on how to play your class
ANY class can use ANY ARMOR and Weapon
Character creation is on par with ffxi, and almost as good as EVE.
Hybrid combat system (attacks must be aimed, but there is also a skill bar)
Virtually no GCD.
Not alot of grinding
Graphics are beautifully flowing
3rd party addons will be able to be made (scripting language is lua)
System requirements will not be stupid redonkulous, but will also not be super dumbed down (certain things are cons as well)
All of tamriel is accessible
Tons of potential
CONS:
Limtations on addons will prevent some wow-esque addons from being possible (targeting addons for example)
Macros are rumored not to be possible
PVP is unknown at this time as it has not been implemented yet
Will be a subscription based mmo (not a big con, but still)
Will require SOME, but not too much hardware power (Anything that was high end within the past 1-3 years will be able to run it smoothly)
Keyboard controls feel a little clunky
Options menu needs some work
Stealth detection system is overtuned atm (Has been pointed out to devs and is being tweaked)
Death penalty is meh
Beta access is currently based upon system specs
Overall:
Needs minor work, but once finished has the potential to be a contender to beat WoW.
Current grade: 8.9/10
